My goodness. Alaska still have one of the best FF programs in the business. Try being an (air Canada) Aeroplan member. You'll pay $30 for the phone priviledge, one way tickets actually cost more than a return, you pay a fuel surcharge on each segment etc etc etc. It's not unusual for a free ticket to cost $200

Is this something new, or have I just missed out on this information?
This is what it says on their website:
This is what it says on their website:
Mileage Expiration
Mileage Plan Miles do not have an expiration date and may remain in an active account indefinitely, provided that the Mileage Plan Program has not been terminated pursuant to these Conditions of Membership. However, not withstanding any term to the contrary, if a Mileage Plan account is inactive for 3 years, Alaska Airlines may close the account, delete any mileage balance and reassign the Mileage Plan number. Deleted mileage cannot be reinstated. Activity in an account includes redeeming a Mileage Plan award or accruing mileage in the Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Program.

Is Hawaii already at 30,000 points?
I was on the phone (for 30 minutes - I tried hanging up but she kept putting me on hold) talking to reservations and they insisted that Hawaii is 25,000 points for a round trip upgrade. Eventually she said that it is 30,000 and booked in Y,b,m, or h.
Can I use the MVP Gold upgrade certificates?

TThe only thing I gain is the class of service bonus (assuming you get it--I've never done this so I don't know and Missy seems unsure. Can you definitively clarify with MileagePlan, Missy?) Oh, you also get an actual first class ticket which can be useful since you can't be told, "well you paid for a coach seat and got a coach seat," during irregular ops when a downgrade occurs.
