Connections PDX-SMF

Trying to book PDX-SEA-SMF in September on a T14XNL4 fare. It will only return non-stop flights. Try to force the connection, and it doubles the fare. Quote it on travelocity, and it prices just fine. Any suggestions?

Also, why does adding a segment add $10 each way? Shouldn't it just be the $5 segment tax?

Call AS and have them fare it. This is an ongoing website issue with AS. Unfortunately their website fare guarantee is weaker than the competition, otherwise you could nail them on it.

As for segment taxes, there's a segment tax ($3.20), and if you haven't hit the cap yet, a security fee ($2.50), and PFC (up to $4.50) = $10.20.

That's exactly what I thought about the guarantee. "Well, if you find something else, we'll give you what we should have given you in the first place". Calling and having them fare it, I lose the 1000 mile booking bonus. If you lose the 1000 booking bonus, doesn't make the 600 extra miles so appealing! Now, could I book it online at the higher fare, get the bonus miles, and then implement the web guarantee?
