Standby Policy

What is the standby policy of Alaska compared to other airlines ? Is there a $100 charge to get on an earlier flight ? If so, is it effective now or after 1/1/2003 ?

I used to be able to standby earlier Alaska flights for free in the past, but then all airlines *used* to allow that too.

As of Sept 12, there is no charge for standby. I flew LAX-Seattle and return, and on both legs I was able to get on an earlier flight for no charge.
