AS7 Stopped in IND (6/23/2021) -- Why?

Hi all. Friends are on the nonstop DCA to SFO. Just added a stop in IND
Does anyone know why, please? TiA

since this was announced prior to departure, I'm going to guess fuel; AS3 DCA-SEA is stopping in Kansas City/MCI (AS9 DCA-PDX is still set for nonstop, but it may have fewer passengers than SEA)

What EF sez... this almost always means fuel restrictions and a tech stop.

DCA is all 738s these days; the 321s are on IAD-LAX/SFO

this is actually an advantage of AS having all those 1x or 2x daily SEA<—>XXX trips to cities throughout the midwest … they have a lot of options for tech stops without the need for one-off fuel contract arrangements

weird - a 738 should have enough legs for the trans con - there isnt high jetstream winds.

Right now there definitely is crossing over the Rockies/Nebraska/Kansas. It might be enough to make the dispatchers require more fuel.
