More Granular AS Award Pricing? 14k SJC-HNL

I could've missed the announcement, but I've never seen AS have awards pricing not in intervals of 2.5k. Thought this was interesting enough to post. The 30 day calendar view only shows 17.5k pricing.

Ive seen 12.5K and other 2.5 increments quite a few times when booking. I think its been around for quite a while. Years at least.

Id not seen this before either, but am seeing quite a few 11K and 19K options on short-ish (SEA-ONT, SEA-LAS) flights, where cash Main Cabin fares are also a little lower. Likely no announcement of awards being a degree more dynamic, as the award chart just says starting from.

But its not because of or proportional to different revenue fares.

It was for the routes I quoted though not for SJC-HNL. Speaks a bit more to the opacity or unpredictability of award pricing.

There are T7 seats available on the flight. If anything, 10K on the route wasn't uncommon. 14K is 40% more. Less, but more! A devaluation? I value the miles at more than 1.35 cents.

I saw this a few months ago but don't remember the route. Perhaps something they are still testing out?

My bad. Read too fast.

I havent seen anything outside of 2.5K increments. So the 14k is weird. Wouldnt be surprised its part of their changes.

There was a single seat on Nov 1 that was 10k, so that pricing does exist, it's just a lot less common now.
