Typically regional routes going mainline?
I saw my SEA-EUG trip coming up is on a MAX. I’ve noticed some other typically regional aircraft routes are on 737s now as well. Is this a new normal or temporary? Any other routes that you know of have gone mainline?

There is another thread somewhere I think where this has been discussed awhile back....I think maybe SEA-PSC is getting mainline as well. It was cool when mainline 737s started re-appearing on the PDX-SEA shuttle route years ago until I discovered the in-flight service is quite different than flying the E175s (or Q400s) on the same exact route.

Seattle-Santa Barbara goes back and forth between E175 and 737 (usually -800). But I think I prefer upgrade chances on the E175 vs. the 738. And people do buy F to Santa Barbara. DFW-SBA on AA is often sold out.

upon the announcement of this fuselage upgrade Alaska said it was in response to the Port of Seattle wanting to reduce the number of flights in and out of SEA. Not sure how that has played out.

Another example: Some SEA-RDM flying is now mainline. Just not enough E175s around to make up for the loss of the Qs.

Yeah. They've removed regional flying at the top end of capacity (replacing regional flights with mainline) and at the bottom end (replacing regional flights with no service, eg YLW-SEA going seasonal and EAT-SEA down to once daily).

Not seeing any of this at SFO.
My primary route (PHX-SFO) is now stuck at a single daily E75 at unworkable times. Meanwhile, UA has four daily mainline. Wish there was a decent AS option.

UA is almost always going to have more flights going to SFO as that is their primary west coast hub.

But SFO is supposed to be an AS hub, and AS previously served this route with two daily, including mainline. My basic point is that while there may have been an upgrade at SEA from regional to mainline, it doesn't seem to have worked its way down to SFO.

Well obviously UA has a larger operation at SFO.
