AS Schedule Changes (2023)
AS 366 (SEA to MKE and same day back to SEA turn around) has been reduced to 5 days week. No longer available tuesdays and Saturday’s.
What other routes have changed and is this likely permanent?

Just booked my ANC-OGG annual trip late Nov - Mid December. Lets hope they dont rip the directs from me again like last year. That was devastating!

Once again learning I really shouldn't book AS early, as every flight and schedule is an approximation until about two-to-three months out.

They just cancelled my October 29 LIH-SJC flight. The only option was an overnight flight through SEA. Although at first they wanted to charge me a fare difference I was able to book OGG-SFO with no additional charge. Caught an LIH-OGG on points via Hawaiian.

Alaska has changed my PDX - DFW RT for the second time since I booked it in November. The changes to the PDX - DFW are not that much but on the return they rescheduled us from an early morning flight to a 7:59PM flight the night before. This may actually work out best for this trip (as long as the hotel will allow me to make a change to the reservation) but this definitely makes me weary of booking with Alaska for anything months out.

One good reason to book early is for a popular route with few options.. My example is a day time flt ex-Hawaii>SEA>BOI. AS usually has only one flt per day that gets us home the same day we leave. This flt. usually departs HI ~11am>12:30pm. I grabbed 2 seats this morning using cash & a CF cert. for next Feb.6th. Yes, there may be a schedule change or two but hopefully nothing too drastic. The price of this flt ($469 for both) will never be lower, IME. The only other airline offering this schedule is WN and I won't fly them unless I'm desperate.

Another reason: If you don't mind taking the flight you booked, but would prefer to take a different, significantly more expensive flight within 24 hours of your original schedule
Had this work out quite well for me last year when I was booking Thanksgiving travel and prices on some flights were through the roof.

Unless you are snagging a really good deal with an award flight, there is very little reason to purchase any domestic flight that far ahead. You are just loaning the airline money for months and you are likely to be subjected to multiple schedule changes--and with AS, you may well end up with a connection through SEA by flight time

My domestic flights that I buy months ahead of time are almost always legs of an international itinerary. DL and AA have been more problematic for me than AS. UA has been better.

SAN-LIH is an option - unsure of what an SJC-SAN connection might look like.
