Inflight Service Changes (1/18/2023)

If Peatos, Himalayan Popcorn, Chocolate covered almonds are going away, will AS continue to cater for 100K comp snacks, or possibly offer picnic packs?

From reddit:

Beginning January 18, 2023

Replacements:
  • Woodford Bourbon > Buffalo Trace
  • Cruzan Rum > Bacardi Rum
  • West Coast IPA > Elysian Space Dust IPA
Additions:
  • Straightaway Margarita
  • Straightaway Oregon Old Fashioned
These new premade (canned) cocktails will be complimentary in first class, and premium cabin. In main cabin, it will be sold for $12/can. Due to the size and proof of these drinks, doubles are not permitted. Flight attendants will only serve these as singles.

Discontinuation:
  • Main cabin snacks for purchase (Peatos, Himalayan Popcorn, Chocolate covered almonds)
Instead, additional picnic packs will be added on each flight (Mediterranean Tapas, Deli Pack, Kid's Pack).

Maybe they are only disappearing for "Main cabin snacks" as per above. We can hope anyway.

I'm still waiting for the return of my favorite in-flight mixed drink ...Sprite Zero and cranberry juice

The Himalayan Popcorn was the best. Sad to see it gone.

Curious to see how the old fashion tastes. The change from Woodford to Buffalo Trace isn't the best for neat or on the rocks drinkers.

If anything, I wish it was switched to Knob Creek. 🤙🏻🥃

Never been a Buffalo Trace fan. It is fine, I just prefer Woodford, as it is the tried and true of the airline industry. It is a shame they had to make this change. I will be sure to enjoy a Woodford on my DL flights in February

Most/all of the new canned cocktails are pretty poor. Cheap liquor and loads of sugar in low grade mixers. In a cooler going to the beach? Sure, I suppose they'd do if you don't drink beer or seltzers. A substitute for an actual cocktail? Not even close. I'm not a drink snob but try to avoid the gut-rot grain alcohol and appreciate at least mid-grade or higher liquors. $12 for a can of this crap? Not in my future.

Interestingly, last week I ordered an IPA on SEA-BUR and was handed a Fremont Lush IPA, a long time standard but not on the current menu!

I've only tried Buffalo Trace once (on F9 iirc) and was not a fan. Guess I'll get used to it, or drink something else. Also a shame they are switching from Cruzan to Bacardi as Cruzan is one of my favorite rums. Luckily, rum is rum is rum. I view the IPA switch as an upgrade so looking forward to that.

None of the premium snacks ever especially appealed to me, so I won't miss them.

Same, but I have a feeling airlines wouldn't want to be serving 100 proof onboard.

To avoid situations such as this, I imagine.
