Question 75K and/or 100K Threshold Bonuses Earned in 2022: Are They Posting Automatically?

Morning All.

Posters on these two threads:
..
...indicate there may be some issues with AS automatically posting threshold bonuses.

The current problem child are the 50k mileage bonus earned when crossing the 75k EQM mark organically (i.e. without any DEQM / BoA EQM bonuses) not posting automatically.

Speaking for myself my 50k EQM bonus did NOT post automatically BUT I believe I hit the 75k mark with DEQMs...in other words, when my customer facing EQM counter hit 75k it only did so with 'non-organic- EQMs. Thus if AS ran a script asking "is customer over 75k EQMs" as well as "is customer ALSO over 75k EQM with bonus EQMs posted - and if not - do NOT post 50k RDM bonus" the bonus would not automatically post, which is correct per the T's&C's. However, if AS was not ALSO running a follow up script to auto post the 50k RDM bonus when a customer crossed the 75k EQM threshold organically, then it's entirely conceivable customers would fall through the IT cracks despite crossing 75k EQM threshold organically at a later date, as was the case with myself.

A call into Customer Care resolved the issue - the agent needed to verify what my 'organic' EQM count was - but wanted to give a heads up to others a quick audit of their account may be due particularly if they crossed the 75k EQM threshold via EQM promos (and then crossed the 75k EQM threshold organically at a later date).

Unclear if this affects the 100k elite choice as well as it's not yet JAN 2023, which is when I believe the choice will be offered and must be made, or if it affects the posting AA SWUs (again expected in early 2023 first half of 2023) but heads up.

I did not receive my 50K bonus when I crossed the 75K threshold (organically) last month. I called Customer Care and the miles were added within a few hours. Showed up as "SPECIAL SERVICES." I was told the 100K e-mail with choices will arrive in January.

Unfortunately, the problem is not as simple as the OP suggested. I, for one, crossed 75K for the first time organically (thanks to a much delayed positing of a partner flight that added a big chunk of EQMs), but my total was tainted by the California bonus, so I still had to call in. I am also expecting to have to call to get my 100K choice email once they go out. Would be great if they get their IT straightened out before then, but given AS' track record on these issues I'd be quite surprised.

I received approximately 1,100 of the California bonus EQMs but chose to ignore them for purposes of qualification. I have a notation on my spreadsheet but left them off any calculations. More trouble than they are worth for 75Ks and 100Ks, I'd say.

Where are you seeing early 2023? The T&Cs say they will be distributed in the first half of the year. I wouldn't be surprised to see them issued in June 2023 with a December 2023 expiry as we did this year.

"Members who qualify for MVP Gold 75K or MVP Gold 100K are eligible for either a total of 1 or 2 one-way upgrade certificates on American, depending on tier qualified for at year-end. Certificates are distributed in the first half of the year. Only members who meet the published qualification criteria for the tier are eligible. Status acquired via nomination, status match promotion, or special offers are not eligible."

I agree about the trouble, but some of us live here, so we really didn’t have a say in the matter. ;-)

It was a less than 5 minute call for me to have it posted.

That may be 2022 language.

I don’t think they programmed the IT to halt the 50k bonus until after the CA EQM bonus started, which I believe was Oct. 1. Could be why, but not sure.

I received my 50k miles this weekend as soon as the wheels touched ground on my qualifying flight. I didn't have any California miles to muddy the waters, though.

I sure hope so. 6 months to find/use/confirm an upgrade via the SWU was less than ideal considering it’s one of the top perks offered.

I received my 50K bonus as soon as my EQM including bonuses hit 75K on Nov 2. Included in that was 10K sorry bonus and about 6K CA bonus.

I crossed 75K including about 4K CA bonus miles a few weeks ago. RT SFO-JFK-SFO last week put me at 83K for the year and crossed 75K organically. No 50K deposit - chatted with CS today and they said they would escalate and I'd hear back within 48 hours.
