Suggested Questions to Be Asked of AS Executives by In-Person Attendees
What was submitted from Remote participants:
Link to the presentation: Alaska Airlines Flyer Forum 2022 - YouTube
- The Elite Upgrade Processor does not upgrade at the elite windows when upgrade space is available and often process the upgrade list inconsistently when it does run. This has been a problem for well over a year. When will this be fixed?
- What are the plans for overall network growth (% increase in flights) for 2023 and 2024? Is the focus more flights to existing cities?
- What are the growth plans for SFO? LAX?
- What are the plans for Dallas Love Field (currently only one flight daily to SEA and SFO)?
- Please describe what *if any* plans exist for improving SEA ops in winter weather conditions … the chaos that has rippled throughout the entire system for nearly a week after the last four or five wx events — many of which actually didn’t develop as badly as initially forecast — has left a *very* bad impression of all aspects of AS operations and management
- Going forward, will AS allow mixing partner award flights? Like SEA-LHR on BA, then LHR-KUL on MH on a single ticket?
- Regarding Partner Award availability, are there any plans to make it easier for Seattle-based members to get to major U.S. gateways (e.g., LAX, DFW, ORD). In other words: why is there rarely/never award space at the right level to us get to these gateways?
- What are the expansion plans for PAE? Are Spokane and Portland possibilities?
What was submitted from Remote participants:
- How dependent on the network growth plan is the MAX assembly and delivery schedule?
- What will it take to display "real" EQMs (e.g. No California Bonus) and AS metal segments required for elite tier status in the Alaska App?
- A round robin question to each executive, non-binding answer of course, what airport would each exec like to see a new Alaska Lounge at?

Never got a link from AS but was able to get in a few minutes late (meetings! whee!) thanks to the kind folks above who posted the YouTube link. Doesn't look like I missed a whole lot but looking forward to the Q&A.

20 minutes in so far and for an event geared to AS MP / elites / FF, a majority of this information is AS 101.

Wow, I love this description of OW! If only it was true!

So far my favorite "new" benefit is MVPs and MVPGs being added to the first class upgrade list on AA flights.

I'm mixed on this... it'll definitely be nice but I worry about what (presumably) adding AA platinums and golds to AS upgrade lists will do given how easy it is to earn AA status nowadays

Perhaps AS could re-imagine and modernize the UG professor so it aligns with the core AS values, CARE. 🤙🏻🍹

Big mention of the move to T1 for SFO, and it says New Lounge in the graphic, but Andrew skipped right over that bullet point. I still think it's a consolidation into the AC.

Is this new? Ability to buy tickets on a wider set of partners? Probably not the most meaningful change for frequent fliers.

AS will move to Terminal 1 at SFO, next to JetBlue and Southwest. From there we we have airside access to International Terminal A with two part-time Priority Pass lounges. Caution: The AF lounge often turns away PP holders even outside their posted exclusion hours. Alaska will have a lounge in Terminal 1, probably without Priority Pass access unless the lounge is huge.

Apparently they'll be introducing more automation in handling airport lobby operations. I hope they don't call it a "talking ticket" though.

Still talking about the lobby upgrade and expansion.... I had to think for awhile to remember what the lobby was. This is definitely not aimed toward elites or frequent fliers.

I wonder if AS is going to address the abject failure of the OW priority baggage perk.

I hope they're serious about automating compensation when they miss the 20-minute bag guarantee. I'm generally not inclined to chase down a rep if the bag is a few minutes late, but an extra 2500 miles on those occasions wouldn't break my heart.
Edited to add: surprised there was nothing in the prepared remarks about credit card updates. They said they were going to roll out "improvements" before year end, and there was the abortive/inadvertent ad with new T&Cs, but nothing here (unless it was in the first 10 minutes, which I missed).
