If I currently have someone listed as MVP recipient for my prior year 100k status and want to change to a different individual for my 100K choice for MVPG status starting January 1 do I need to change them over now ?

⁴ If selecting this benefit option, the individual you nominated for MVP status upon MVP Gold 75K qualification will be upgraded to MVP Gold. If you didnt nominate anyone to MVP status after qualifying for 75K, you can select an individual to nominate to MVP Gold. Gifted status will be effective up to 7 business days. For members qualifying for 100K in calendar year 2022 for the 2023 program year, recipient status will begin within 7 business days of making your selection, and is valid through December 31, 2023. For members qualifying for 100K in calendar year 2023 for the 2024 program year, recipient status will be valid through December 31, 2024.

Well, I called into Customer care as I have quite a bit of travel already in January that I wanted to use the Alaska Lounge for. They mentioned the selection email would come out either later this week or next week.

If your chosen benefit is Alaska Lounge+ Membership, you will receive a membership for the entire time between your selection date and the end of the program year. For members qualifying for 100K in calendar year 2022 for the 2023 program year, the end of the program year is December 31, 2023.

Yeah, my situation really sucked for the AL+ benefit as I had just renewed a week before the announcement, so my renewal will be in September or so again in 2023. It would be the best choice for my needs but since they want to make it January-ish to 12/31 instead of just another year that adds to the end of my existing membership, it's a mess. So do I just suck it up for 5 months this year Sep-Jan with no membership to then have it for free in 2024? Day passes aren't a thing, and I will use up all my banked passes in no time.
Then 2024 rolls around, it won't kick in until late January at best, with the same issue come Dec 31.
It's a really lame way to handle this benefit. While I am glad they made it an option, they get an A for effort, and a solid F for execution.

Agreed. They need to fix this so that the Lounge membership year tracks their ability to process requalification and benefit selection. The easiest ways to do this will be to either make the membership either add 12 months to an existing membership or to match the lounge benefit expiration to status expiration, so that status renewals prior to status expiration mean there won't be lounge membership gaps.

I'm usually on top of these things, but despite being 100k last year and now this year, have no idea where or how to nominate someone for MVP (the 75k perk)... Do I look for an email, or is it somewhere on the website?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It's January 10 - the big day that the choice benefit emails are supposed to come out. Has anyone received one? I have not. I figured they would have started sending them at midnight, but who knows.
Do you mean that if we got 100K for 2023 and select the lounge choice, it will go through the end of next year? It would be great if that were the case, but that's not how I read the footnote that explains the choice benefit:
If your chosen benefit is Alaska Lounge+ Membership, you will receive a membership for the entire time between your selection date and the end of the program year. For members qualifying for 100K in calendar year 2022 for the 2023 program year, the end of the program year is December 31, 2023.
