Can i dig up an old sore tack from the VX merger? I had to start at zero million miler count coming from VX...they said they would retroacively count activity for about a year...but received nothing......any update on this from AS or they wanting this to quietly disappear?

Not sure if I should be posting my views on this, but it's been such a long time, I don't even care any more, having turned the page on some very fond memories of Virgin America. I loved that outfit, the premise on why it launched and, admittedly perhaps irrationally, felt some pride that it was our home town airline with a dedicated terminal (T2). Not that I'm proud of this, but I was easily bought off with the generous MVP 75K match and eventual OW membership, which I had always hoped for, but didn't see a scenario where AA wouldn't have vetoed it.

"Bonus EQMs earned via this offer will not count toward certain MVP Gold 75K and MVP Gold 100K benefits, such as the 50k bonus miles granted on reaching MVP Gold 75K status or American Airlines international upgrade certs granted on reaching MVP Gold 100K status"

As a side note, 75K's no longer receive (4) additional GGUs; so that is not relevant to the promotion T&Cs. AS stopped honoring this benefit last year (if I recall correctly), to some uproar from elites.

surprised when i received this bonus for trip through LAX, bonus made gold75k for 2023 AND i received 50,000 bonus miles, so above statements regarding LITE may be incorrect

The aforementioned statements accurately reflect AS policy. If AS IT mistakenly awards the bonus EQMs consider yourself lucky; however, people should not expect to receive them well.. because they arent entitled to them per AS.

AS SFO->IAD : upgraded to first class for more EQMs to get to MVP
I don't normally track frequent flyer miles, and chase status, however... we've been flying AS SFO->DCA a few times this year (for family visits), and had AS SFO->IAD (with premium seats) booked to depart within days.
I checked my Mileage Activity and did some math to figure out how far I have to go, after this upcoming trip, to get to MVP for 2023... 1390 miles. We're not expecting to make another trip this year given the only time we have off is around the "holidays", and its not the "best" time to be traveling.
1390 miles. Doesn't seem like much... at least that's what my OCD is telling me.
My other half was not keen on making superfluous trips (e.g. SFO->SEA->SFO or SFO->SAN->LAS->SFO)... and AS does not fly SFO->SJC->SFO.... so I got to thinking about a First Class upgrade. Hmmm.
I spoke with the Mileage Plan folks today on how First Class bonus stacks with the "California 50%" bonus, and TBH I think we know more than them. (Maybe the early morning staff is better in tune.)
This thread has helped me a whole lot with figuring out the numbers; i hope correctly.
(Sadly, the return IAD->SFO leg is after the 50% bonus timeframe so that's not helping.)
Soo... here's the numbers: We're both currently at 12580 with 7420 to go for MVP.
The current "Main" cabin (iirc fare L) round trip would get us these "EQMs":
SFO -> IAD: 2412 * 1.5 = 3618
IAD -> SFO: 2412
3618 + 2412 = 6030.
7420 - 6030 = 1390 miles short of 20k. (Argh!)
i.e. 12580 + 6030 = 18610 miles
So I looked into upgrading the SFO -> IAD leg to First Class for about . . . . (ahem) $364 incl tax etc. per person \_(ツ)_/.
New mileage math:
SFO -> IAD (First Class (C)): 2412 + (2412*.75) + (2412*.5) = 5427
IAD -> SFO (Main(G)) : 2412 (no change)
5427 + 2412 = 7839
7420 - 7839 = -419 , that is, we're at 20,419 !
12580 + 7839 = 20,419
I won't be able to use the MVP on the return trip, but that's fine.
At least we should be able to use the SFO lounge on the outbound trip.
Let me know gently if I missed something silly above. I'm gonna have some anxiety when I look into my mileage activity after arriving in IAD.

Ps. one of the reservation agents did indicate I could get 1000 miles "comped", but the mileage ppl were not keen on helping me out... and I didn't want to risk waiting until the end of the year to beg for 1390 miles.
Pps.. fwiw.. I'm not seeing a huge value in the MVP status... Free bags maybe. But we get that with the credit card.
For example, there's two of us traveling together (always), and so the "24-hour-before-departure upgrade", or "waitlist upgrade" would be a major problem if only one of us was able to upgrade.
Also.. when booking with "MVP" selected, it seems the tickets have to be booked separately.... I currently book with one credit card transaction, one batch of seat selection, all one transaction.
If we use "MVP perks" (e.g. upgrade at time of booking) then I think we'll need to be creative with the website, or phone the agent.

This promo really helped me out, and I kind of screwed up. After my MR this weekend, and including the promo I presume, I'm now at 493 EQMs to MVPG.
I still have JFK-SFO-JFK booked in a couple of weeks
It's a saver fare so I can't even change it. Oh well.
