Anyone know if flights that connect in CA count? Or does it have to be an itinerary starting or ending in CA? For example, does SEA-SFO-JFK booked as a single one-way ticket count?

Doesn't matter. SEA-SFO would be considered to CA; SFO-JFK would be considered from CA. If you would add an intra-CA segment - e.g. SEA-SFO-LAX-EWR, that would count as well. The construction of the ticket (single, separate) is irrelevant.

Just wanted to make sure Alaska was determining eligibility based on segments, and not considering this itinerary flying from Seattle > JFK. Thanks for the reply!

Great... now I have to do some math and be sure I qualify for 75K and not 75K "light".

Thanks for posting as I probably would have missed this!!

Why does this major overlooked piece of information not surprise me. Alaska is horrible at making sure all info is apparent in there T&Cs

FYI, it looks like in order to qualify for the bonus EQMs, a given flight has to originate or terminate in a CA city.

However, it applies to both new and old bookings:

Did CA-based members receive an email about this? Seems generous that they dont require registration and count already booked flights. So basically a lot of EQMs for people who may not even know about the promo when they are flying.

Can we get 50% bonus on lifetime miles instead of EQM?

I'm also disappointed they would push this out now. I qualified last May for 100K, all butt in seat miles. I was hoping the 100K group would be thinned out for next year. I'm qualifying for UA 1K now and now I am thinking should I stay with AS after next year.

The implication of this promo is that there aren't many CA elites, which means higher upgrade rates for you. I'm only MVPG and I've been upgraded on several transcons/hawaii flights out of SFO this year, which would never happen as a UA Gold.

If this can be combined with the PAE promo, I may have to do a run even if I am already 100K for next year.

After hearing about this promo, I decided to convert a SEA-HNL direct flight in about a month to PAE-SFO-HNL. PAE-SFO will be in I, so assuming I can double-dip on the PAE promo, I think my EQM for that leg should be about 711 (base) * 1.5 (COS bonus) * 1.5 (CA promo) * 2 (PAE promo) = 3200 EQM. And I think my EQM for the SFO-HNL leg should be about 2394 (base) * 1.75 (COS bonus) * 1.5 (CA promo) = 6284 EQM. So roughly 9500 EQM total. My original SEA-HNL flight in C would have netted me 2677 (base) * 1.75 (COS bonus) = 4685 EQM, so I think I'll be doubling my EQM by adding the SFO layover.
