When I lived in Europe I was BA Gold for years but flew BA long-haul PE a lot for work, and the premium cabin redemption/upgrade Avios multipliers were much better.

I fly enough paid premium cabin flights with BA (always bought long in advance when the fares are acceptable) that I'm close to the 1500 TPs needed (or could even exceed this) on my 2-3 trips to Europe each year. Throw in 10 -20 AS flights and I'm way over.

When I fly AS using my BA EC #, I get free lounge access and don't pay for the AS lounge membership.

When I call BA on the gold line, odds are someone will answer. I don't think that you can say that for an AS FF with any type of status, and having someone answer the phone when .... happens is way worth the price of admission.
