Can you use someone else’s discount code?

My father-in-law has four discount codes expiring soon that he cannot use. Can I use them if he gives me the codes?

Thx

You can go to this AS website:

https://www.alaskaair.com/shared/tip...unt-view-terms

Copy and paste the discount code and you can view the terms and conditions of that code. Hope it helps.

This is the best answer. The codes may be non-transferable.

It’s possible that your FIL can book your ticket for you.

I have always been able to use my discount codes to book tickets for my family members, although my n<10. YMMV.

I used the link suggested above to check the terms and this is what it said:

Passengers: The recipient of this discount code must be one of the travelers . Discount is valid for up to 7 people traveling together and booked and ticketed at the same time in the same reservation and at the same fare.

So I guess I can’t use it unless my FIL comes with us.

Curious to know what would happen if you booked for both, split the PNR, and cancelled the recipient of the code.

If you book your travel while logged in to his acct. there is high probabilty you will be successful. Just try it and let us know. It's worked for me. Nothing to lose.

add code to "Payments and discounts" before booking

As an experiment I tried pasting my SIL's CC $75 code into the box during the booking process and when I got to the payment page I got an error message.
So I then opened my account and pasted the code to the "Payments and discounts" area. Then I clicked "SHOP" and started the booking process. Voila! It worked.

I’ve never read the T& C on my discount codes (usually for late flights), but I’m certain I’ve booked using them for either of my kids without necessarily matching code to traveler.

Then again, we all have the same last name and I do manage the log in for each kid, even the college student who is now over 18. Is usually log in to the account owning the code, then book for whomever. It actually never crossed my mind it wouldn’t be okay to book a sibling’s ticket with a code.
