Got the same email a couple weeks back for vouchers of $25 FAT-SAN and $75 SAN-FAT. I laughed out at both emails. Last time I volunteered to change flights UA was offering $1k vouchers.
Interesting that they changed the verbiage on the title of the email.

I was on Delta and offered my Seat from SJC to LAX on a busy holiday weekend. As I was in no rush Delta gave me a voucher for $1000 for a 5 hour delay plus Food. Not only did I enjoy a good meal at Gordon Biersch I had lounge access . I used this for an Air France Delta Codeshare ticket and only paid $100 difference . I had nowhere to go in LA but just my Grandfather's condo and he could care less about me arriving at 10 AM vs 3 PM.
Delta also offered to pay me for a car service in LA to my destination which I accepted This amazing SJ agent was proactive
The Delta Agent upgraded my seat to First Class. and I got the bonus miles. The agent thanked me for volunteering so graciously and quickly because a Family would have missed a cruise.
At LAX a Red Coat Agent greeted me and thanked me again for volunteering and escorted me through baggage and to my car service. Totally unrxpected but the agent said that transportation is hard due to the busy weekend and they thought that a Bentley would make up for it. The Driver had snacks and sparkling water..
Apparently others were refusing to volunteer but at the gate I said I could go later without them asking..
Point in case $35 is a slap in the face.

The funny thing is sometimes the options include a flight the same day as the departing one, so I accept the new flights then when check in opens, SDC back to the flight I was on. Yes that does mean you lose your original seat assignment, but when it is short hops its not the end of the world to have a less preferential seat.

just got a $195 offer at T-5 for a flight I was going to cancel anyway; switched it to the following day which was a no-brainer as that’s when I *really* want to fly anyway
as mentioned above, I can’t actually deposit the cert until the issue date, but that will not be a big deal

AS vs AA
so I got emails from both AA (outbound) and AS (Inbound) for my flight this weekend to New York. AS will compensate me $55 to change my flight, while AA will change for “no charge”….. Both offers are "no-go" as alternate flights are not favorable but really AA?!?!?!

Not sure why there's no alternative flights listed, but for the emails that I've received, that link in the email just takes you to a webpage before confirming any changes.

apparently there’s some fine print about “This link expires in 24 hours” … which is of course incompatible with “Issue date is not current date or a past date” for a certificate issued 5 days before the originally booked flight
let’s hear it for IT interns

Although I'm late to the party, I would think that getting any incentive to change a flight in advance would be better than having your flight cancelled and getting no incentive as well as being rebooked automatically. I may have taken a same day change but probably not an alternate date
