Want every day I can in these times

Thank you for the assistance, hope to see y'all around in the lounges
It used to be the case--though I can't find it on alaskaair.com pages now--that if you purchased a single entry, you could apply that $$ amount to a membership if you purchase one within the next 30 days. If you're traveling alone and expect to fly again within 30 days, it would be worth looking into whether that's still a valid deal. (Unless there's fine print I don't recall, e.g. the membership year starts from when you purchased the single entry vs. upgraded to a full membership.)

if you purchase a membership within 30 days of purchasing a day pass, we'll refund you for the cost of the day pass.

Similar experience in that the agents only want to see my boarding pass and not the digital card. This is the case at both ALs & ACs.

However, if I'm not crediting to AS, the boarding pass doesn't indicate that I'm a lounge member. So unless I'm on an otherwise lounge eligible itinerary (like at an AL flying on AS F), after the boarding pass scan I still usually have to pull up the digital card, whose key purpose I've found is that it has my AS FFN in large text that I can show the lounge check-in agent so that they can manually type it in. They don't seem to want to scan it even then either.

As a side note, I'm curious what happened to (or will happen to) the space that they were originally building for the SFO lounge....it must have been a lot cheaper and less time consuming to switch to the former AC location although it looked like it was going to be pretty impressive so maybe a few more years would have been worth the wait.

And when I chatted with the ticket counter supe the other night, she seemed to think September as well. It's empty and full of dust at the moment, but the most important thing they're waiting for is a liquor license. They won't even consider opening without that piece in place.

Didn't a wise poster from the East Bay once post about AS no longer having a liquor license for an SFO lounge? I seem to recall this, but wise doesn't mean not lazy, and I'm not going to search.

Yikes....highly unlikely that's all going to happen in the next two months....I would go out on a limb and say that I'm guessing it will be open by the end of the year. I know Alaska and virtually every other airline likes to start advertising things like new lounges months if not years in-advance, but I'm beginning to think it backs them into a corner when they throw out an opening date like the "end of summer" or "first part of next year"....why not wait til enough progress has been made and all the "typical" delays have happened before announcing an opening date or better yet, make the date further out than they realistically think they need and surprise everyone with a "soft opening" in which case it makes them look better in the sense that they were "ahead" of schedule....lol.

They're doubling down instead. They had a poster board display by the check-in desk at the ANC lounge several days ago promoting the new SFO lounge. Still mentioned "late summer 2021".

They had the same thing by the check-in desk at PDX this morning.

Maybe they're referring to the bay area's indian summer, which runs through October, sometimes into November.

Mark Twain, who (supposedly) said, "The coldest winter i ever spent was summer in San Francisco." might disagree.

No, he would not have. He was referring to the traditional summer months, particularly July and August, which can be cold and gray. September and October, by contrast, are typically clear and warm.

You can add LAS to the list, they must've had hundreds of copies of that thing printed.

And of course I first saw it at SFO, but if it hasn't opened by October, I'm guessing that sign may "accidentally disappear"...

SFO lounge

SFO lounge positions just posted on alaskaair.jobs. In addition to the concierge, on call concierge and louge hospitality host there is a listing I have not seen before for a Lounge Specialist who appears to be some sort of complex problem solver.

I was thinking of buying an Admiral's Club membership (or upgrading by AAdvantage card from Platinum), but buying an Alaska club membership seems like a better deal. is there any downside to buying a membership with Alaska and using that to gain access to Admiral's Club lounges? I would use the Alaskan lounges, but not frequently enough to make a membership for that alone worthwhile.
