How do SDCs work when a flight you want to change to has been delayed?

I'm supposed to be on SEA-OGG today at 6:05 PM. The other times for that route are 8:40 AM and 12 PM. If the earlier flights are delayed to, say, 2 PM and 4 PM, would I be able to SDC to them?

My understanding is that I wouldn't be able to if they aren't delayed, since they are more than 6 hours prior to the scheduled flight. But if they are delayed into being less than 6 hours, would I be able to? Assuming of course that there are seats available and everything.

I asked on twitter and they said probably, but weren't sure if I'd be able to SDC onto a flight that was supposed to have already departed.

Also, can I SDC when flying with a companion on the same reservation? I know that would lower the success, but is it theoretically possible?

I'm not 100% sure what the technically correct answer is, and I won't guess and risk giving you bad info. What a I will recommend is that you call in (assuming wait times aren't terrible, which they might be on a day like today). People have reported that agents are being fairly flexible with weather-related accommodations.

Unfortunately I called and got a wait time of 3 to 5 hours, which is what brought me here. I'm actually hoping that I might be able to SDC in the airport if a flight looks like it will definitely depart. So I think I'm most likely just going to have to find out in the moment either way.

It looks like AS just updated the Covid-flying (reduced) schedule through May 19. To my surprise, my planned April 7 MSP-PDX non-stop survived! However, it did get downgraded to an E175 instead of an A320, and leaves an hour earlier. Can't really complain even though I was kind of looking forward to being able to use the lounge at Sea-Tac since I'm in F.

But my question is, how long will it take the updated schedule to actually hit my reservation? If I look at the loaded schedule or try to dummy book a new flight, it shows the new schedule. But if I pull up my reservation it still shows the old schedule. Is it just a rolling push overnight, or what? I mainly want to make sure I get a comparable seat since the seat map obviously changed so I want to jump on that as soon as I possibly can. (If I try to pull up the seat map on the new flight with a dummy book, it just says that the seat map isn't available right now.)

I have a couple questions regarding a booking with two different PNRs (both AS marketed and AS metal) - looking to see how AS would handle this in practice. The passenger has no status on AS.

Flight 1 is BOS-SFO, upgraded to First using a GGU
Flight 2 is SFO-LAS in Main (2 hours between flights)

My questions:
1. Since the first flight is in upgraded First, could the passenger check this bag all the way through to LAS without paying a bag fee?
2. Should something happen that would result in a misconnect, would AS reroute to something like BOS-SEA-LAS, or would it have to be BOS-SEA-SFO then SFO-LAS due to the two separate tickets?
3. If the passenger is rerouted from upgraded First, would they be reaccomodated in First (assuming space is available)?

Yes this is really still the case. Source: me, this morning T-72hrs. I was not automatically upgraded but was able to select a Premium seat since it's a pretty open flight.

I haven't followed airlines very closely during the pandemic, did AS extend mile expiration beyond the normal 24mo without activity?

I have been surfing the posts here, but am a bit lost. New to actually using miles - I have 280K on Alaska and can use a combination of miles and cash. I am looking for two to Europe in October. Fly from Portland OR to Dublin Ireland around October 1, travel Dublin to Athens on Oct 11 and Athens back to Portland on October 23. Any suggestions where I should look here or elsewhere to best plan this out? I can do economy, but would consider business for a redeye (if it is real business)

Anyone else having troubles with Alaska IT and unable to see their trips? I've checked via the app and the website. Either says unable to sync trips or (more alarmingly) says I have no trips (when in fact I have multiple flights booked).

Glad it wasn't just me. I just tried again and could sign it. When I had signed in earlier, it had a note about deleting my trips (which panicked me as my sister had supposedly linking a reservation to mine). But was now able to sign in and it "imported" my trips.

Hope yours is now working too.

For a trip to Europe - the Alaska website is your best bet.

Aer Lingus is the best partner to find on the outbound flight to Europe. Under normal circumstances, you could do your flight from PDX to DUB and from DUB to ATH without paying any extra miles - but Aer Lingus stops flying to Athens on September 30.

If I were you, I'd look for your flights one-way at a time in the Alaska search with "Use Miles" - but only for PDX-DUB on the 1st and ATH-PDX on the 23rd. The Alaska award chart doesn't have many partners for intra-Europe flights, and these are generally pretty cheap anyway to buy on their own.

In coach on Aer Lingus, you're looking for flights that are 30k miles to get the best deal each way.

In business, you're looking for flights that are 60k miles (didn't find any of these around your dates unfortunately). If you do happen to find Aer Lingus business class space, this would be in a proper lie-flat seat. I believe you only need to avoid IcelandAir Business Class to stay out of a recliner seat for the trans-Atlantic legs.

On the return, there looks to be coach space on American for 22.5k miles back. Again, business class isn't readily available yet in this direction either. Good luck!

Unless Australia releases me this year, I will not be able to meet the requirements to retain 75K status. Does AS do soft drops on status or do I go straight to basic member?
