(there are “Everything you want to know about where to sit…” threads for pretty much every aircraft type UA operates).
I am not aware of something similar here, but would be worthwhile having, I think.

When I was a UA loyalist, I spent a lot of time picking my seats with the help of threads like this one:

This is just me, but to reveal how shallow I am, RE: 7A and 2A, when I'm reserving into PC or upgrading into FC:
1) I like to be able to stow things under the seat in front of me, if I care to; 1A and 6A don't allow for that;
2) I prefer window seats;
3) I'm blind in my left eye, and sitting on the left side of the plane makes it easier to see when FAs are coming by for drink orders, and I hate to have to be called twice or tapped on the arm by a seatmate to order my G&T or Bourbon, depending on the mood.

How Do I Find Fare Class on Alaska?
When trying to book a ticket on Alaska, I cannot find the fare class anywhere unless I checkout. There has to be a way to see it beforehand that I’m just overlooking. I’m needing to raise my EQD for AA and one of the best ways would be to get a long AS flight with a good multiplier according to fare class. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

For first class bookings, I don't think there's any good way, other than hitting "refundable" to look refundable tickets.

1) As already mentioned, underseat stowage in front of you, slightly less hassle with the overhead stowage.
2) Not getting slammed by every backpack of people boarding after you.
3) If you always get 2A, it's good on every aircraft and you don't even have to think about it. I've had plenty of trips that were four consecutive 2A seats.
4) On the E75s you don't have a neighbor if you're in 2A

I'm flying same-day saver LAX-JFK rt. Outbound leg will be enough miles to get me to MVP status (ignoring the 50% EQM bonus). Will I have status benefits (e.g. early boarding) on the return? Will my return leg correctly post with the 50% mileage bonus from MVP, or will I need to contact AS to get the right amount of miles? Kind of doubtful the system will recognize it properly.

Unfortunately, AFAIK there is no way to see the fare class prior to the "final selection" page on AS. What you can do is use the "Upgrade options" selector. So for example, if you choose MVP, it'll show you fares that MVPs can automatically upgrade into first class (which typically tend to be higher fares).
For first class bookings, I don't think there's any good way, other than hitting "refundable" to look refundable tickets.

Yup you'll have your status benefits on the return leg. The Alaska app posts/updates your milages/status often before you even pull into the gate, so as you walk off the outbound you'll be an Alaska MVP! You'll also get your elite bonus off the flight miles instantly updated/added going forward on the None/MVP/MVPG ladder, however as a heads up there is a known issue when reaching 75k where the elite miles don't post correctly (at all) on the award flight so you have to call in and have them added to your MP account via a "special services" deposit.
