Is there still an upgrade bug where SABRE considers you to still be the original status you were when you booked? I recall having to remove my FF number and re add it, or something?

Is there any recent reports of this being true still?
Removing and re-adding your FF number has no impact on your status being updated on your reservation. AS has automated sweeps that run to check for and update reservations with respect to elite status changes. There is no manual process to update it.

I may be one of those few FTs who still does not have AS BOA credit card. I used CSR and Marriott Brilliant card for all travel purchases. I got a 100k miles offer by email this morning ($2000 + $15000 to spent in the next 9 months). Would you consider this offer if you had no card?

I am looking to have some account activity in my account (last activity Jan 2020). Looking at the advisory, looks like I missed out the free award fare cancellation offer. Right?

https://www.alaskaair.com/content/ad...dvisories#flex

What other way to keep my account active for lowest cost, given I live in the Land Down Under ...? There are no direct bank points transfer to Mileage Plan available.

I think it's a great offer and I'm considering it. Even if you have to use Plastiq to get to the additional $15K it's like buying miles for less than a penny each. If you can meet the spend organically, it's an incredibly cheap way to generate a bunch one of the most valuable miles.

I have never used the AS hotel booking but right now I see some fares offered for RED ROCK Casino that are way cheaper than even the casino rate. Can someone help me out with the ins and outs of this? It seems like such a good deal. $80 plus resort fees instead of $147, read a couple bad reviews of being charged extra etc by the booking company. Any data points and or advice?

Agree with you. I just hope it's not a sign of devaluation or increased AF.

What Do You Pack On a MR

Curious what everyone packs when strictly flying for miles and you’ll never leave an airport. My last MR was all done in 18-hours and found there wasn’t much to take along.
when I do have a few hours to get a room and sleep I usually pack a bag of old clothes to use the free checked bag feature, hoping to cash in on the 20-minutes guarantee.

You are not letting even one cent slipping away.
I usually pack my lumber air pillow, neck pillow, sleep mask, a few magazines and a roll of Lysol, and some toiletries to freshen up. So just a small backpack.

I've only done a few, but in a single backpack--and I packed to prep for getting stuck at destination unexpectedly overnight:

1) Whatever I'd normally take to have with me in the cabin on flights that length (which ain't much, but includes a fully charged backup charger for my phone and a small paperback novel).
2) Enough portable food to keep me alive in case I end up stranded overnight without other food options for dinner, e.g. a few protein bars and a couple apples, plus a recyclable cup or refillable water bottle.
3) Earplugs and eyemask.
4) Change of underthings and shirt. And a baseball cap, in case I have to combat pillowhead.
5) Essential toiletries.
6) All my well-learned politesse.

I'd avoid checking in a bag on a MR, particularly with a complex itinerary. It's a lot easier to get rebooked into a new flight, skip flights in your original itinerary, or anything else, when they don't have to pull a bag, retag, or you can just walk right off a delayed at the gate flight.

That is just a no brainer

Way back when I've done a couple or so pure MRs on UA I just had a small backpack, cell phone, tablet and something to read. OK, a tiny towel and a few granola bars as well. Oh, and some preloaded entertainment on the tablet

Just wondering if Main fares (purchased after May 1st) can be cancelled at anytime before scheduled departure, for wallet credit? I think that's what a phone agent told me, and that semi-agrees with the myriad Alaska webpages, but I'm afraid I'm not sufficiently clear.

I understand Saver fares can only be cancelled within the first 24 hours (and that assumes you purchase greater than T-24 of scheduled departure). In turn, I see change/cancellation fees have been eliminated on main and first fares, which suggests my assertion may be true. But further down the page, under "How to Cancel Your Flight," the page doesn't sufficiently address "Main Fares, purchased on or after May 1st." It addresses "Main and Saver before April 30th," and "Saver on or after May 1st." Idk.

To those way more knowledgable than I --
I have a companion fare code that I'm hoping to use and am looking at a trip to LIR in the late Fall, but had a few questions around potential upgrades with the companion fare:

1. If I search with the MVP Gold (not a GGU) upgrade drop-down selected and the companion code inserted, it lists a "premium class upgrade" and "first class upgrade", with the premium class upgrade only being $3 more [plus the companion cost]. On the checkout screen, it would book us into an S fare, and has the premium upgrade 'blue box with a white star' filled in showing as available (the blue "F" box is not filled in or available *surprise*). Yet, when I go to select seats for Premium Economy it still is requiring an extra charge to select those seats. Do I just pick regular economy / elite seats first, and then once I check out an upgrade is instantly processed, 'then' I select PE seats?

2. I'm only MVP right now, but will be MVP-G by this trip with already booked travel (actually by the end of July). Can I still book the above, or do I have to already be MVPG to finish the checkout process?

Thanks!

Since you're an MVP right now, you can't select a free Premium seat on an S fare. But you should book the S fare for $3 more right now, because once you become MVPG you will then be able to select the premium seat for free.

IT Mess!!!!

Is anyone else having problems today? After checking in for my flights tomorrow I noticed I wasn't on the waitlist so I called.... got right through to an agent but it took about 20 minutes of her trying to figure out what was going on. She couldn't see me check-in, couldn't set my seats and was just having a bunch of problems. We finally got it figured out (for the time being) and I ended up in PC from my initially booked exit row. Just to be sure I checked a couple hours later and both seats (two flights, one seat on each) had been switched to the back of the plane, one of them a middle seat!! So, I'm now sitting on hold about 20 minutes deep into my second call and I just keep getting error codes when trying to check-in and am hearing a lot of things like, "Hmm, I don't know why it's doing that. Let me go talk to a supervisor." Not exactly inspiring confidence!!!

Update: Looks like I/we might be at the start of a problem. The service rep just told me within the last hour they've had, "a bunch of problems" with the computers. She said I won't be able to print a boarding pass and am "flagged" (whatever that means) as needing to get the BP at the airport. She assured me my seats in PC are locked in but I'm not exactly resting easy. I'm hitting 75K by the time I land tomorrow and am starting to think I'll be sitting in the cargo hold.

Check your seats if you have flights coming up!
