The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

Flight No.: 6
Departure Time: 12:45
Menu: No
Meal Description: Lunch - clementine roasted chicken breast with saffron rice, leeks, crispy kale, green salad with oil and vinegar, warm roll with butter, and a lemon meringue tart.
Other option: sweet potato and rutabaga risotto
Snack basket was offered about an hour after lunch service.

This was one of the best domestic F experiences I've ever had. Trish (or maybe she was Trisha) was an outstanding FA. Before take off she personally introduced herself to the F cabin, explained the menu and service, and thanked us for our business. She was highly attentive and gracious throughout the flight. No PDB but "water boxes" were at each seat and she took drink orders during boarding so they were ready as soon as service began. Before landing she again thanked us for our business and wished us well. These small personal touches really made a difference.

The clementine chicken didn't have a ton of flavor on its own, but with a little salt and the segments of the roasted clementine it was quite good. The bread was soft and warm and the butter warm and spreadable. The salad was crisp and the lemon meringue tart was restaurant-quality.

Because I was famished, Trish kindly warmed up a leftover portion of the risotto so I got to try that as well. Presentation-wise it wasn't the prettiest dish but it was earthy and creamy with a nice sauce to it. Overall this meal was leaps and bounds ahead of the normal slop served on legacy carriers. North of expected!

Maybe this has already been reported here, but something I just noticed…

Although Alaska advertised that you can only pre-order food up to 20 hours before a flight, I’ve noticed you can make a meal selection in F inside 20 hours. You’re just limited to whatever is still “in stock” based on what’s been catered and other passengers’ selections.

Was wondering if the Banh Mi chicken is any good or if just getting 2 cheese & fruit platters is the wise decision? Just since I have someone with me was thinking can share the 2 diff items if the sandwich is worth getting. Thx

I would happily eat anything Alaska has served on recent flights. So my wife and I go for variety and choose different selections and share. It’s an absolute delight flying on Alaska whether we’ve been upgraded to F (pleasantly often these days) or pre-order at a cost (which my Amex Platinum picks up by way of its $200 airline credit). Not to mention the small bottles that keep coming!

Flying AS 65 next week, the milk run. Even though the first leg of the trip is over 600 miles my F booking is showing "no meal available" and thus not allowing any pre-orders. Be interesting to see what actually is catered. Hopefully more than a snack basket since I'll be on board for 6 hours to make it to JNU. I'll report back!

We have had the pleasure of having Trisha as our F FA. She is truly outstanding. When we chatted, I complemented her great attitude and service. She is a definite asset to AS . Wrote in after flight and added that she would be a wonderful trainer for other FA’s.

More filling than the fruit and cheese (somewhat), and decent. Definitely not my favorite on-board meal, but have had worse as well. It was a buy on board option in Y prior to COVID, so you may have tried it then, or if that helps provide more on size/quality.

Did that flight earlier this year. I got a croissant sandwich on the first leg to KTN. I forget what the other choice was. There was also a pass of the snack basket.

Nothing on the other legs (block time is only 20-40 min each). While waiting at PSG, I asked if I could get some more snacks and they got the snack basket out again.

Thanks. Actually never have stepped on AS plane before. Will be first time next week. I truly hadnt even thought of them as a solid First class carrier. Always thought they were low budget or something. I dunno why. And I love AA for Transcon to JFK or MIA, DL for me works for Seattle & Portland. AA to Dallas or United to Houston and I can connect from there.

Just never have thought to try AS until a few weeks ago stumbling on some positive comments on FT I think and then doing a little research. Looking forward to trying them next week. Doing AS up and DL back from SEA, so will enjoy doing the comparison.

That looks far better than anything on AA in the last 18 months, hec maybe longer. what was inside the ravioli- just some ricotta? And what the sauce just something light with some lemon I would think for some nice acidity? Cant tell for sure but thats corn on top? Also, is that some white asparagus i see there as well as the green?

it's a cheese ravioli with a chablis citrus sauce. Has diced zucchini and onion on top with a charred green onion and asparagus as well. It's tasty. Lot's of good flavors.

Spot on sounding sauce for that dish and my eyes are bad sorry but zucchini and onion sound way better than corn (for that sauce). Looks really good. I just dont think I would do recliner seats for Transcon (when I know I can get lie flat for same price or less with the Big 3).

Is that meal only a Transcon route meal? Or does AS not distinct service levels for Transcon vs any other route that qualifies for a hot meal?

The Banh Mi chicken is very good - and would be a solid choice to share along with the fruit and cheese platter. I think you'll enjoy your flight and the food.
