Overall, this was a great meal.

The chicken breast was dry, as expected, but still tasty. The saffron rice and lemon meringue were very good. Still better than what most other airlines are serving these days. No cookies were offered on the flight.

I thought the cod was...fine? To me it seemed mildly flavored and the cod was cooked well and not dry. Overall, it tasted like a lighter/healthier meal. Also, mine definitely looked less black than the one in gold10829's post. Our F/A also wrote different quotes for each of our meals which I thought was interesting.

No plated dessert meant the cookies came out, which ended up being southern toffee with nuts (maybe pecans?), and as expected, delicious.

It was pretty decent tho unremarkable and came with a lemon meringue tart. Service was very good and professional with a pass of the snack basket around an hour out of DCA.

This was my first transcon since COVID, but things mostly seemed normal except the coffee was in paper cups. My wife and I pre-ordered the kale bowl, which we both thought was pretty tasty. My neighbor had the onion frittata, I passed on that as I hate onions but it also looked pretty good. My son pre-ordered the fruit and cheese plate, which came with yogurt. There was one pass of the snack basket about an hour before landing; I selected the pea-toes based on reviews here and was not let down. We landed around an hour early due to favorable winds, all in all a very smooth flight although JFK Terminal 1 is pretty sad these days.

I was hesitant but tried the Bahn-mi. It was OK. The pickled slaw and Sriracha really made the sandwich. The bread was a bit too thick and some small bits were very soggy. Also, the banhmi had this sauce (Sriracha mayo???) that didn't really belong in a banhmi, imo. Overall though, it was fine. I woke up hungover that day so the carby bread was really appreciated. 😂

This was MUCH tastier than it looked - I really enjoyed it! Excellent service from the flight attendant in First, who gave me a warm welcome as a oneworld frequent flyer.

LAX-CUN
Lunch:
Entrée Salad with egg. (Other option was Beef Sandwich)
This was ok - the cauliflower was marinated in curry, which overwhelmed the flavor of the dish.

Both meals were delicious. The breakfast was very filling, as was the dinner. I know it has been mentioned before, but I can't get over the fact that it's a real filet! I would pay $35 in a restaurant and be happy. It's also great to see that even the disposable napkins retain the button hole.

I flew SEA-AUS and back this weekend and pre-ordered the chicken on the way down, and the cod on the way back. I have to say, BOTH items were extremely dry, especially the rice that came with the chicken, which was very overcooked and crunchy. The chicken dish is also very sour -- sour clementines with sour greens and sour radicchio salad. The entree is screaming for some chicken gravy.

The cod and grain (on the side) was also very dry, and also needs a sauce. Teriyaki, maybe?

The longer haul hot meals are truly impressive, that is not.

Thanks for posting though. Seeing the (lack of) quality of these short haul tray meals got me a nice future flight credit as I downgraded back to economy (and then back to premium for free as OW Sapphire on AA) on one of my upcoming flights and will just pre-order buy on board instead.

I'm booked tomorrow on AS3361 from SEA to OAK at 7:57 a.m. in F (75K upgrade went through about T-24). The app says the only food for pre-order is Northwest Deli Pack. Is this really correct for F, at breakfast time?

The chicken dish, if I recall, was served pre-COVID and I agree, I really enjoy chicken, but a slice of orange on top is a somewhat odd choice. It needs some type of sauce or gravy....and maybe a side that handles re-heating better than rice (garlic mashed potatoes, some type of alfredo pasta, twice-baked potato, etc.).

Regardless of flight length, you're not going to see any hot meals on the E175 flights until they are all equipped with ovens. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Skywest-operated E175s don't have ovens and the Horizon Air-operated E175s do. I think for the sake of consistency, all the E175 flights will be limited to cold food options unless Skywest installs ovens. My guess is that AS originally planned to have all E175 flights operated by Horizon with ovens, but I don't think there are nearly enough Horizon operated planes to cover all of Alaska's flights at least for the foreseeable future.

I noticed the quote by Walt Whitman on the sticky note.
" Be curious, not judgmental"
Was this supplied by you or the F FA?

We're booked in September for a two-leg trip, PSP>SEA>FAI. No idea what to expect for food. Both legs are currently scheduled for 737-900s. PSP>SEA, 5:40pm, is 987 miles, 2 hours, 48 minutes. SEA>FAI, 10:44pm, is 1528 miles, 3 hours, 51 minutes. I'd at least like a cheese tray somewhere. Hopefully the lounge in SEA will be open long enough for us to get a bite to eat there.

SEA-FAI is over 1100 miles, so hot food was recently reintroduced. See my post above.

Food options for F per AS website.

As their SEA>FAI flight departs after 8pm, I don't think they will get hot food. It doesn't sound like there is food for F on flights after 8pm or red eye. If there is, I can't see details on the site and others have reported getting nothing.

The N and C lounges at SEA are currently open until 10pm. However, when I've been in there after 7:30pm the food pickings have been low. I've never seen wraps or some of the heartier choices, but usually SOME salad, soup, and snacks. Soup and salad can run low at times and it's taken a while to refill. That's my experience with evenings in the lounge.
