Trying to book ANC-DOH on to anywhere in Europe. All AS shows is flights to DOH and separate flights onward. Even at 85K for each set of flights, that is effectively 170K. Am I missing something here? Multi-city is requiring a RT which I don't need.

I don't think you're allowed to connect in Doha for US-Europe flights which is pretty disappointing in my book.

Yes, what you want to do (USA-DOH-EUR) is two awards, so 170K as you say.

There are only a few regions from the USA that have a single award rate (USA-DOH-Africa and USA-DOH-Indian Subcontinent). For all other regions the awards begin or end in DOH. And to add insult to injury award pricing on some routes is somewhat dynamic!

There is no insult nor injury with the QR chart.

Going USA - DOH - EUR is a stupid amount of backtracking, and also would require an overnight in DOH for pretty much every gateway. AA doesn’t price USA - EUR on QR not sure why people think AS would be any different.

Additionally, awards are not “dynamic” they are “binary” as in saver/non-saver availability.

Let's just say that I am a bit disappointed that there is two-tier pricing on certain routes when AA doen't have this for QR awards.

.
There is in some routing when compared to AA. Just check the SEA-DOH-CPT mileage required. AS is twice the amount of miles. AA is a clear winner when using QR in every situation I’ve checked.

That people here with the AS program expect AS to have better awards in every scenario in comparison to AA, despite being an order of magnitude easier to earn?

That's certainly not me, but it does seem to be that of the poster that I was responding to, regarding his response to a previous post that is the truth.

Any reason why they switched the route from consistently being serviced by an A359 to a 777?

I flew Q suites about two years ago and 3 of my 4 segments ended out with equipment swaps, and didn’t have Qsuites, they were 777. But aren’t most of the 777 now converted to Qsuites? What are the odds the SEA route doesn’t get Qsuites one day?

Update: I think i answered my own question. I see Qsuites are only 26% on the A359 so I assume they made this switch to make sure Qsuites was more than likely?
