OK to bring food onboard?
Traveling PDX-SMF in Y during a meal period. Is it OK to purchase food at the PDX airport and bring onboard to eat enroute ?

Yeah, not only is it permitted but it's about your only means of survival these days. IMO, the airlines have done a terrible job warning people about just how little food is available on the flights. We all get clubbed over the head 50X an hour reminding us to wear masks but there is barely a mention that all you get during a 6+ hour flight is a small bag of Chex-Mix.

I've been flying weekly since this Pandemic started and I've been bringing my own food onboard without any protesting from the crew or passengers with the exception of "OoOOo that loooks good! Where did you get that?" or "Did you bring enough to share?".

The OP is clearly asking about items to bring onboard to actually consume, i.e., "to eat" or drink onboard, right? As usual, you are just writing to contradict what I say but hey, common sense is still free.

That was a problem on the late, unlamented Freddie Laker Airlines (anyone remember that?) flights from New York to Florida. No food service, so people brought on hot pastrami sandwiches or hot corned beef sandwiches, accompanied by the spiciest dill pickles. All made for a very fragrant flight!
