Help with EQM math
Sorry, not exactly sure where to post this. I've been status matched from SW and need to accumulate 5,000 EQM's by July 31 to extend MVP status.
With the 50% Status Boost and First Class Bonus Miles I just want to make sure I'm doing the math right! Here's what I got booked: SNA-PDX Y class: 859 + 429.5 (50% status boost)=1,288.50 EQM PDX-SFO-SNA Y class: 550 + 500 (min) + 525 (50%)=1,575 EQM SNA-SFO RT F class: 500 + 375 (75% Bonus Miles) + 250 (50%)=1,125 x 2=2,250 EQM If someone can verify this looks correct it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Mark |

Thank you! Mark For SNA-SFO return in F, EQM earnings will be the 500 minimum (372 miles) × 1.75 × 1.5 = 1313 in each direction. 2626 EQM for the return flights. James |
Can someone with experience confirm that the 75% COS and 50% EQM bonuses will help this person with their status challenge? I seem to recall a discussion in the status challenge thread that called this into question, stating that only BIS miles counted. I'm not sure a definitive answer was reached.

I don’t think either will, customer service has previously told me that for status matches they only count BIS miles

The 50% bonus EQM stacks on the 75% COS (Class of Service) bonus on the paid F fare.

Excellent point! I too forgot about that for challenges, although this EQM bonus "across the board" is quite different than COS bonuses. Attaining 25% of MVP qualification in 1 month (8.33% of a year) with actual BIS miles seems like a high threshold. If it was over 3 months, it would be more commensurate.
James Original e-mail. They did initially confirm if I fly the 5,000 miles that my status would be extended until December 31, 2021. Main reason I'm doing it. Thanks for joining us. You've got until 7/31/2020 to enjoy all the sweet benefits of being MVP. To extend your status to 12/31/2020, fly 5,000 miles between now and 7/31/2020. Keep those perks coming! LAX-EWR (2,447 miles one-way) doesn't even get me to 5,000 BIS miles. I wonder if they would give it to me for being close. Anyway, hope it doesn't come to that. M |

I've had since May 2 to do it. Just procrastinated. :)

Add a connection, LAX-SEA/PDX-ORD, for example, return will do it. You could do that for $165.20 return on July 22-23 in Saver, $235.20 in Main.

I have verified that the 5,000 miles are indeed 5,000 BIS miles. Bonus miles do not apply during status match challenges (through you still get the 500 min miles i.e. SEA-PDX/SNA-SFO).
I am now efforting a 5,000 mile trip(s) by the end of the month. Nice little one is a SNA-SFO-AUS RT nets 4,000 EQM miles for $181 saver 7/27-28. THANK YOU again to all for pointing this out!! M |

Thank you for this one. Not bad value at all but I think I would rather do a quick SNA-SFO-SNA day trip than a 5+ hour layover there!!
