San Diego Terminal 2 West relocation

Travel to/from San Diego (SAN)

Effective May 7 - July 7, 2020: Alaska Airlines will temporarily operate from gates in Terminal 2 West. Alaska Airlines check-in and bag drop-off will temporarily move to Terminal 2 West.

Over the past 3 years I fly to San Diego weekly, but I haven't been since March. Anyone know why Alaska moved to Terminal 2 WEST, and then will move back to EAST on July 8th?

I think it may be because of ongoing construction.

*All* airlines in T2 have temporarily relocated to T2 west; T2 east (and much of west) are shut down. While increasing in recent weeks, SAN sees probably 10-20% of its prior frequencies, so they have decided to concentrate operations.

A number of airports have done this. Here @ SFO, all Intl. Flights have been consolidated into G, A is completely closed.

This is the answer. SAN is consolidating operations.
