Inflight Service Changes Due to COVID-19

Currently on AS673 from DEN to SEA.

Not sure if this is a huge deal or not, but the F/A was making introductions and mentioned some service changes due to COVID-19:
1) suspension of hot towels service
2) glassware can't be reused
3) no more water bottle refill

I wonder if we'll see any official announcement from AS regarding this.

EDIT:
Instead of the usual water walk, f/a started with a bottle of hand sanitizer and pumped it to whoever wanted it.

EDIT 2:
Link to the Alaska blog post, thanks tom911 for the pointer!

EDIT 3:
Link to Alaska Travel Advisories that list additional service changes.

What does "glassware can't be reused" mean?

The way the f/a mentioned it was that they can't refill your glass. Which surprised me since I thought they always gave you a fresh glass, but I digress.

On AS2817 DAL-PDX now... a Horizon E175. I did get a hot towel in F but announcement was made that water cups would not be reused during the water service and that they would no longer fill personal water bottles or cups.

I imagine the water service where they pour you a glass from a large communal bottle may disappear completely soon.

Do people really fall for this sort of public window dressing? It’s comical.

Sounds like another excuse for lazy service.

Donít know. But it could be related to the just-released analysis that strongly suggests there could already be hundreds of cases in WA. Wonít be surprised if that turns out to be true in OR and CA as well.

Unclear what is the rationale for suspending warm towel service. The flight attendants use tongs to distribute them, so where exactly is the risk? You would think encouraging people to clean off their hands before eating would be beneficial. Iíve also seen people use them to whipe off the tray table if itís dirty.

Pure laziness/cost cutting under guise of "health & safety".

If the towels are lukewarm and not sufficiently hot (>140 F), they can be a breeding ground.

One would assume they are sanitized prior to packaging, have no "hand holding" prior to service, and the only germs they may contain come from the spring fountain known as the airplane water tank.
