LAX Lounge Access

Not sure if this is the right forum but here goes...

I have a 15 year-old living with me, and she is travelling to Hawaii in First. I will get a gate pass so that I can make sure she gets to the correct gate, etc. I believe that she will have lounge access. Will they allow me to go in with her if I have Priority Pass?

Thanks!

AS lounge in LAX often denies Priority Pass due to capacity issues. Is she in paid first? If so, she automatically has access for herself. I just don't know the official policy on accompanied minors with regards to lounge access, if their guardian is allowed to enter. Common sense would indicate you should be allowed to escort her in if she's on Paid F, but common sense doesn't always prevail.

If the sign is out by the elevator saying no Priority Pass access, I wouldn't even mention it to the agents, won't help.

So far I haven't found anything online that covers this exact scenario, it's a bit unique.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, she is paid first. I'll look for the sign when we get there and see what happens! I report back.

I would chat with Lounge agent. Mention that since she is a minor , hoping they would allow you to accompany her this ONE time . You do not have boarding pass but have a PP if that might help this ONE time. They may make an exception this time. Always worth asking , very nicely.

Speaking of LAX, the lounge is also slated to get larger in a few years, new entrance - will increase space by 3,000 sq feet. The build out will be south of the bar.

That's cool news, any official links or mock ups or anything online?

There's a thread for it:

Cool, doesn't look like a massive expansion, which makes sense given the very recent remodel (says 3000 sq/ft which is big, but the documents seems to make it look like mostly hallway/reception sized layout).. but mostly focused on improving the elevator/lobby entrance situation. In addition to the new space, can probably reclaim some of the existing lobby space if they do that.

I was in LAX last night and it was half+ empty. But the sign was stationed at the bottom when I came and left, so it might just be a case of them not wanting to remove it. You may be able to talk your way in with a passenger in paid F and under the circumstances.

I'd give it a 50/50 shot.

Now, as a minor in paid F, she should gain access I think- as they don't have self-serve beverages. They may ask for you to buy a lounge pass to gain entry, with an AS visa card it would be $25, or $50 without.

Slightly OT, but I was able to get into the LAX AL on Wednesday this week at 6 AM. Only stayed for 5 mins or so, but was nice to get a coffee and paper.

Just to close the loop on this one, We arrived at the elevator at around 10:00 am on Saturday. The sign was up indicating no Priority Pass access. We went up anyway and the woman at the desk said that it would no problem to let me in using my Priority Pass since I was accompanying a minor. So, we went in and spend a nice hour in this lounge. Note that I was (of course) extremely nice to the woman behind the counter, didn't demand anything, and listened to her directions.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Glad to hear it turned out to be a positive experience for you. It is nice to hear follow up after we have given advice. A few of the AS Lounge agents are friends on mine, and I think they try to do their best. Aloha.

If you happen to remember their name, send in a kudos note to Alaska Listens, or tweet it at them. More often than not it will work its way down to the actual employee through their managers.

Just to ask a slightly tangental question on LAX Lounge access, do I get access on a BA issued award ticket in domestic F? I have a 125-stock ticket for travel in "A" class from LAX-JFK next month.

Award first flight booked into A class will get you access at LAX, yes.
