Alaska buys naming rights for SEA NHL Arena...sort of

Alaska Airlines has purchased the naming rights to the atrium of the remodeled KeyArena. Evidently they couldn't afford the entire stadium. Alaska Airlines atrium at Delta Arena has a nice ring to it.

They're also the official airline and "founding partner" of NHL Seattle. I'm sure that as part of the deal they wrote something into the contract saying other airlines couldn't appear on or inside the building.

They also have the naming rights for the Arena at Hec Ed and the Field at Husky Stadium. This is pretty consistent with their branding strategy as opposed to your inference of being cheap.

They are also a large advertising partner for the San Jose Sharks. They have end dashers and I think even under ice logos.

I am not sure these naming rights in Seattle really do that much....Seattle folks already know the airline. Maybe to ensure Delta does not get naming rights.

Huge NHL fan, going to try to get to a game or two a season when they start playing.

Would love to see some in-arena perks for elite members... Just saying!
