Mileage Plan cards are only of the virtual kind now. You can access your MP Card through the APP.

Last few times the notifications were useless. I was sitting at the gate and it popped up. Nobody was boarding yet. One customer even went up to ask and the agent said in 5 minutes

I think the notification is sent automatically, when the gate agent starts an app to process boarding passes. The GA could open up the app in advance in preparation for starting boarding, so the notification gets sent then.

Thanks. It would have been nice if they had told us. On my network carriers it is sometimes still necessary to have the physical card (e.g. lounge access through Star Alliance in certain international cities.) But I cannot really imagine any such cases for AS as there really aren't any elite benefits when traveling on other carriers.

Lounge access in LHR/KEF/PEK/Australia for Golds+, so in theory, but the wallet card is the same as the actual card so it shouldn't be an issue.

Can confirm. I used the wallet card at LHR for BA (after explaining I should have access and them reviewing their manual as they seemed very confused as it wasn't a OneWorld partner).

Why is the NYC city pair stopover invalid on online? Does anyone know if an agent could book the following award ticket:

CTU-JFK (HU)

Stopover

EWR-SAN

Online, this is an invalid itinerary, and only CTU-JFK ; JFK-SFO,LAX,PDX,SEA are valid.

I wasn't even aware. I assume those are for flying on BA, FI, QF etc.

I have heard stories abroad that where the FF # should be good enough for Oneworld/Star Alliance, that sometimes the wallet card isn't accepted and they want the physical card. And that it doesn't always work to ask them to look up the rules.

So I get notified at 129, boardong time is stated 140. No staff on board plane, they are about to board at 136.
Such a useless notification on the app

Give feedback on alaskalistens.com. If it is GA driven as believed, then there should be a policy about when they trigger it and should actually be boarding. Or they don't, it's an opportunity to address so that pax get correct information.

My pet peeve has been when the estimated boarding time doesn't match the estimate shown on the podium monitor or the airport FIDS. They should all be coming from the same source.

I've definitely seen cases where they're about to board, the app notification triggers, and then a phone call or radio comes in to stop boarding. Am sure that's not always the case, but if you got the notification, headed to the gate and didn't see any activity, it could be that (or perhaps just them pushing the button/launching boarding screen or whatever too soon).

There used to be an iOS bug (haven't noticed it in awhile) where the boarding pass from the AS app showed 10 mins off boarding time from the iOS wallet version. Imagine it's a similar bug in software on one of those displaying boarding time if that's the case.

MVPG+ have access to all QF lounges when flying QF. I have used my AS "wallet" card to access QF lounges without issue. Some agents did need to reference their "rules" book though. Pictures of the AS Elite cards are included in their materials.

Access is not granted on other carrier codeshares operated by QF. Domestically within Australia, access is granted to the Quatas Club while international flights to/from Australia are granted access to the Quantas Business lounges.

I have used both domestic & international lounges in SYD, MEL, BNE & HKG. Time didn't permit a visit in NRT.

This is mainly an issue with LH, and their errrr... German rigidness. Luckily, not so much for AS.

LH is definitely reported as having done this - physical card required. Also won't let you use the lounge on arrival even if you would have been entitled to the arrivals lounge. As well as stupid policies like not letting me get on the one hour earlier TXL-FRA, which went out with empty seats, for an intercontinental connection, and of course there was an air traffic delay causing me and many others to miss the connection because of the delay on the later flight.
