It's encouraging to see that upgrades ARE still clearing and not just left to the gate.

K fare, purchased... 16 hours prior?
5 Sep MCO-SEA, AS 9, moved on airplane. 7 in F, 4 were a family. So I was the lucky #8 . 2 left on UG list. 4DF remained open.
5 Sep SEA-JNU, AS 75, upgraded 1 hour prior. 1 F cancelled or moved as F was booked to 7 prior. 4DF remained open.

Shouldn't one of the 2 people on the UG list for MCO-SEA be upgraded into 4DF?

9/19/20 SFO-PHX Upgrade email received 2:53 am 9/15/20. E175, I had a choice of 11/12 seats. Only 1C was unavailable and could be blocked for crew.

Booked 9/13/20 & part of a larger itinerary. Flying PVR-LAX-SFO-PHX. I purchased I class on the first two segments for a 25% fare premium. I chose Main on the SFO-PHX because the fare premium was too high.

One passenger cleared ahead of us and we sat in 6A/C, saw a passenger in Row 7 get a fruit and cheese plate and my MM SO went up to F and came back with two, both of which I promptly ate... The FA said that the pax was a flight attendant and her husband a gold and they had missed the upgrade. SO was a little miffed that he wasnt proactively offered one before her...this was our first missed upgrade of 2020.

Cleared at gate immediately before boarding into 1A/C, one passenger awaiting a seat was cleared ahead of us. I assume waitlisted for paid F, and this was an occasion with F0 but two empty pairs due to couples flying on F tickets seated together. SO had to miss the flight at the last minute, which I was upfront about with the gate agent. I kept the F seat as a lowly MVP on an $80 ticket (refund went through for his half of the GETTHEROW).

This has got to be one of the toughest upgrades in the system...even during a pandemic. This is also one upgrade I would be the most disappointed to not clear....such a long flight.

AS 3459
LAX-SFO
Cleared just before boarding

9/16/20
AS 3486
SFO-LAX
Cleared T-2
Pleasantly surprised when the FA offered a full choice of all beverages available for longer flights as well as the snack basket

Slightly lighter moments during both flights when the pilot welcomed us on United Express on the outbound flight and the FA spoke to us about the MileagePlus program. To be fair to the FA, the programs are only off by two letters, but if I wasn't paying attention, I would have thought I flew UA on this itinerary.

JFK - SEA

My wife bought these tix using her companion fare. I'm Gold, she has no status this year.
To my surprise, I was upgraded at the gate to FC. She was not.
Since my name is unisex, I offered to give her my seat up front, but she smiled and said no thanks, you deserve it. Besides, she was in 6C anyway.

Was there someone in the seat next to you? You should not have been upgraded if there was. If there wasn't, there would have been no issue with her taking it.

Cleared about 1:30 prior to flight for both the wife and I. About 10 folks on the list.

Wow that's a lot of people at this time. Glad I just booked F instead of hoping for an upgrade.

Nice. I guarantee you AA crews won't do that now.
