2019 Guest Upgrades rolling into 2020?
 
I used 2/4 of my GGUs earlier this year, and today I went to upgrade my GF's parents' flight next year and had 6 GGUs to choose from; all with expiration 12/31/2020. The numbering pattern of 2 of them is the same as the used 2019 codes, while the other 4 are have different codes (starting 4 are all the same). My GF still has a couple on her account from 2019 and she's showing the same 12/31/2020 expiration on 6 codes.

Is this a new thing, or just part of Alaska's efforts to emulate Delta with IT errors?

It sounds like an IT error (educated guess). If you know which ones had a 2019 expiration, I'd use those.

My 2019 ones still show 2019 expiry.

Me too. I asked about having them extended. Denied.
