Angry another TCON schedule “enhancement”

LAX-IAD redeye (2330-0700) becomes a late evening trip (1700-0030) early next month; also appears to go to less than daily until mid March

Actually, some of us do view that as an enhancement!

Thanks for posting this info.

Without deep-recline or lie-flat seating, I prefer this schedule.

Arriving after midnight is a bother. So, I'd rather have it leave LAX about noon to be a significant enhancement for me.

? It's now leaving at 1700, not 1200.

Not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere, but PDX-JFK goes from 21:45-05:52 to 14:00-22:09 the second week of January.

NO!!!! The 21:45 departure was perfect for either a quick run or to connect with the morning flight(s) to LHR. Oh well, extra bother to fly up to SEA first (or SFO/LAX).

Love this! Don’t need to take the EWR day flight anymore, and arriving 10pm, the traffic into the city should be reasonable.

The late afternoon departure makes this very appealing to many business flyers who are quite happy to get 50-75% of a workday and then head off and no deal with a red eye. UA offers this xLAX and SFO and the flights are both packed and costly, likely meaning high PRASM.

Not just LHR either. Was good for connecting to many JFK departures.

also just noticed these
  • the SEA-PHL redeye is off the schedule after Sun 6 Jan (although it also reappears in mid Mar)
  • the redeye SEA-BOS becomes (as Often1 just mentioned) a business-traveler-focused flight with a 445pm departure for two months (8 Jan thru 18 Mar)

Sorry, I could have been more clear.
The new schedule change is ok.
However,. I would prefer a totally different schedule that would arrive before midnight at the destination such as a noon-ish departure.

Yeah, I agree, the PDX-JFK red-eye had mileage run written all over it., but now with a required overnight hotel, not-so-much. The old PDX-DTW-PDX run was really the best from a mileage run standpoint

If a schedule worked for a mileage run and generated fares that were suitable for a mileage run, you should expect a schedule change or cancellation.

Pretty well explains why the $191 SFO-BWI and SFO-RDU routes from a year back aren't currently available, with BWI due back in the spring and RDU not on the schedule. Plenty of sub-$200 fares out there right now SFO-EWR/JFK. Had to cancel one when the evening EWR-SFO just disappeared on one travel date, but other trips over Jan-Feb look good, a mixture of mileage runs and weekend stays. Still making Alaska work for me from SFO.

I notice that the 9:30am JFK to SEA flight moves to a 1:00 departure sometime this spring. It’s nice to see a mid-day westbound departure on Alaska; I’m assuming that flight will sit there all morning after flying in as a red eye.
