I just booked JFK-SFO-LAX-DEN for 25K (x2 for two passengers) and am pleased with the value. AA business, AS first (SFO-LAX), AA first. Lounge access at JFK will be a nice plus, besides the flat seat for a 6 hour, 52 minute flight. I will miss AA a lot when those redemptions go away.

With AA is was possible to select MCE seating for Elites with a little workaround. I have the Citi AAdvantage Executive CC which gives free checked bags & group 4 boarding so starting with AA or after a stopover, it wasn't really an issue for me.

I remember at one point it was possible to book a stop for AA domestic, but it is no longer possible AFAIK. However, you can still book a stop with AS metal.
