AS 1139 (SAN - SEA) on 11/17/2019 (07:25pm) Preemptively Cancelled - Why?

What possible reason could there be to suddenly cancel this full Sunday evening flight a couple days before? Had I not called immediately and gotten the last seats on the 5pm flight, I would've ended up on some even worse routing as seats were getting snapped up to reaccomodate anyone who calls.

Is there any way to find the reason for this?

Strange - it seems like the cancellation update didn't hit the reservation/schedules till today though - it sure would've been nice to have a little bit more of a headsup to make better plans if they were going to do this.

San Diego has been having a lot of fog recently, causing last minute cancellations and diversions, especially for late night and early morning flights. I was scheduled on a 7am flight out of San Diego last week and it was cancelled because the flight in the previous night had been diverted to LAX. It's just that time of year when the marine layer rolls in pretty thick sometimes.

But, it doesnít seem like that would explain pre-canceling the flight 3+ days in advance.

Remain OverNight.

i.e., not enough space in SEA.

This would be an airline controllable delay, as they control the schedule and own/lease the resources they need to manage their schedule.

this would make sense as I have noticed two evening arrivals into SEA and two corresponding morning departures pre-cxld most days over the past week (per flightaware). It would appear SEA has gotten so capacity constrained that they canít even find remote parking places over night.

For an Airbus is that the airplane equivalent of a complementary stay at the Kent Red Lion for a few hours?

No room @ BFI for anything right now.

A year ago Alaska were parking two 737s at BLI every night; because of lack of space during construction/runway work at SEA. I'm sure BLI would be more than happy for that to return (and perhaps a BLI-LAX or BLI-LAS turn)
