PAE-GEG is coming!
Alaska Airlines announces new service between Paine Field and Spokane | Alaska Air Group Inc
Service starts November 4th. One flight each way daily, departing PAE 7:55pm arriving GEG 9:10pm. The other direction leaves GEG 7:40AM arrives PAE 8:55am. Neil |
Great to have the route but times look awful
|
Note, they are cutting 1 daily departure to LAX to balance slot restrictions. Agreed, times are surprising. Perhaps they are suspecting most folks want to head to Spokane after work? |

PDX-PAE also goes from 4x to 3x daily on November 5th. Not sure what is taking that slot.
Quite honestly, I thought PAE-GEG was already a thing. |

My guess on the timing is it's so they can park an E175 overnight at GEG.

If you live in Spokane and need to go to North Seattle/Everett for the day, the times are pretty decent. I'm guessing their route-planning group have enough details to know in which direction there's more morning demand vs evening demand. As for the route, I'm shocked, shocked I tell you. I would have never predicted this months ago (oh wait, I did predict exactly this -- note PAE-ANC will be next) |
The times make sense from a Spokane perspective. When I lived there, I knew a handful of people who flew GEG-SEA and back 2-3 times per week as they had an office in Seattle.

GEG is a QX crew base, so that could help with logistics.

I see PAE's future as lousy as long as it's limited to a small number of flights. Of course, eventually, it could be just an all 737-900ER airport.
Whenever there's new service, it means some existing service must be cut. Not very good. Since there are 3 gates (1, 2A, 2B), not 2, there should be at least 6 more flights allowed. Either that or have a flight with two sections, such as AS flight 9001 leaving PAE for SFO at 6:30 am and a second section leaving at 5 pm. Then technically one flight. |
I think PAE is limited to 24 flights (aircraft) per day. 18 a day for AS/QX and six for UA. There may also be hour restrictions. |
All times are GMT -6. The time now is 7:39 am. |
