No More Cards for MVP

Just spoke to CS rep on AS MVP line and asked why I had not received our MVP Plastic Cards this year.
She said as of this year, they are no longer sending out cards to members.
"If you want a card, print on off your account and laminate it".
Geez, no thanks.
We were using them for making luggage tags. I guess no longer.

OMG, a virtual card. We already had virtual white wine. What could be next? Could it be virtual pre departure beverages, virtual hot towels, and virtual amenity kits?

Sarcasm aside, with the app, the physical card became memorabilia and I never carried it. Instead, I use the app and screenshot the Mileage Plan Card in case I don't have connectivity and somehow need to show status internationally. Never used that either.

Why would anyone want a physical card? One less useless piece of mail to have to bother with.

It's helpful when traveling overseas with certain partners.

What benefits are you thinking of? I think the one time I needed a card was to get into the BA lounge at LHR, and as far as I recall, they accepted the virtual MVPG card.

For all of your membership card/brag tag needs:
https://www.nametagwizard.com/design...-sided-id-card

I've used it and it works very well.

They also eliminated the welcome kit for MVPs.

Oh cool link. I can re-create that Delta KM card I lost a few years ago when I stopped flying Delta...

I have traveled extensively over the years internationally usually on BA; always used the electronic card and have never been questioned. I agree, if it is that important, print it out but I for one am not going back to the bulging wallet with numerous cards "just in case". I think AS made the right decision on this.

They probably don't have your Mileage Plan number on them either because they are bag tags.

I requalified for MVPG75K back in the second week of May. I received an envelope in the mail yesterday with one tri-fold pamphlet. On the cover it says Welcome to MVP GOLD 75K. Inside the benefits are listed and two bag tags are affixed under the heading "Swag for your Bags."

So no Membership cards for 75K either and I am happy with that. I used the e-Membership Card, without issue, for entry into Qantas Lounges when flying domestic & international itineraries on QF in the Main Cabin.
