Meal Service in F on Bay Area to SEA flights
Hi Alaska regulars-
Is there a meal service from SFO/OAK to SEA in First on Alaska? It's right at the 2.0 hour flight time block and it might depend on time of day. I know DL is still offering meals in F from SFO-SEA and of course I'm sure UA never has.
Thanks,
Paul

I think they serve a light meal at meal times...AS goes by mileage as far as I know and SEA-Bay area is just barely within the range for a meal. I asked on Twitter what I would get for a 6am PDX-SFO flight in F last February which was coded as a "snack" and they said it would be a breakfast sandwich...it ended up being a choice from the snack basket....after feedback about not getting the meal I was told would be served I got a $50 ecert. FWIW, this flight is still coded for a light meal...the same "snack" code used for PDX-LAX which does get a full meal at meal times....weird.

A light meal / snack. Protein plate, sandwich with chips... something along those lines.

OAK - no, it's 672 miles
AS uses 675+ miles as it's criteria for B/L/D flights, as opposed to S (Snack) flights, which are 674 miles or less.

You can actually confirm how flights are coded in F by looking at the "Where we Fly" tab and then "Flight Schedules" underneath that.

I haven't flown SEA-OAK in a while, but it always used to be catered the same way as SEA-SFO. It would make sense since they are co-terminals, but I do see that SEA-OAK and SEA-SFO have different meal code designations as you point out.

I sometimes have to fly it due to IRROPS, and it's not any longer, and hasn't been for quite awhile. It's the hummus plate, at best.

You typically don't get choice of entree even on many mid-cons. Shortest flight where I've gotten a choice was SFO-ORD.

It seems like the 3.5 hour rule for pre-ordering is a good indication of whether you get a choice of entree onboard. SEA/SAN-STL, SEA/PDX-MCI all get an entree choice.

In researching this a bit more lately, it looks like AS is no longer stretching the definition of "snack" as they have in the past....for example, dinner time flights from PDX-LAX use to say "snack" even though they would actually serve a meal that was more typical of a dinner meal...prior to the snack basket, some flights had warm cookies and/or mixed nuts but those flights never qualified as "snack" flights. Now I'm seeing Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner for PDX-LAX and the "snack" designation really does mean snack basket.
