I wonder if their cash ticket prices will go up now too, since they no longer have competition from WOW

I wonder about that. I suspect that most of their traffic is connecting flights to other european destinations, where there is plenty of competition. It wouldn't surprise me to see flights terminating in Iceland go up. It might even end up being cheaper to connect than to stop.

But, both types of awards (to iceland and to the rest of europe) went up by the same amount.

That's more expensive than what AA or UA charge for Europe.

With that said, I have been unable to book several Icelandair flights.....it might be because majority of the available flight options I'm choosing are 737MAX operated flights. It seem to show it's available for booking but when I try to confirm it, they come back uncomfirmable. I suspect MAX flight is the problem here.

Looks like no FI flights are bookable:

Icelandair award booking failure: We have temporarily removed the ability to shop for Icelandair award travel due to a high rate of booking failure. We are working with Icelandair to resolve this issue. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your continued patience.

Was wondering if the grounding of the MAX is catching up with FI and their planning. They are 3 of 33 aircraft in their fleet.

Seem increase is delayed. Now indicates increase for May 1, likely due to high booking failure of Icelandair Flights. Currently, Icelandair flights are unbookable.

Now April 30th and still not bookable online. Looks like this one is an overnight increase as it had not been bookable for some time....... I wonder if calling might be an option now or whether we need to wait further..... My attempt to book in Mid April was a failure as it also impacted phone rez agents...... hmm...

Was disappointed to see the online booking error message. But then I discovered the award rates for saga class, and decided it would be better to book a revenue ticket and credit miles to AS.

Since the fuel surcharge is the same for Business or Coach, it is generally better to use miles for Business, but cash for Coach.
