AS Operational Data

Someone asked on one of the earning call or presentation threads for data on operational performance. Creating a thread to share the updates as they become available.

January 2019 Report

On a combined basis for all operations, Air Group reported a 2.5 percent increase in traffic on a 0.9 percent increase in capacity compared to January 2018. Load factor increased 1.3 points to 77.1 percent.

The following table shows the operational results for January, compared to the prior-year period:

Mainline also reported 80.5 percent of its flights arrived on time in January 2019, compared to 87.1 percent reported in January 2018.

February Results

As a result of unusual winter weather in the Pacific Northwest in the month of February, our operation experienced significant challenges. Impacts of the storm are reflected in the operational results as shown below.

AIR GROUP

On a combined basis for all operations, Air Group reported a 2.0 percent decrease in traffic on a 1.9 percent decrease in capacity compared to February 2018. Load factor decreased 0.1 points to 79.3 percent.

The following table shows the operational results for February and year-to-date, compared to the prior-year periods:

Wow...Iím surprised mainline traffic was down 4% in Feb compared to the previous year (although regional traffic was significantly higher). The mainline fleet hasnít shrunk so itís a bit surprising.

This is interesting that it seems that AS has really beefed up the QX/OO side, which makes sense because of some PAE/SJC/SAN/SFO adds. I would expect that to continue.
