Incoming SFO Flights Diverted to SLC and LAS (2/13/2019)

SFO currently shows 3 hour arrival delays. I see two flights from JFK have been diverted, as well as flights from DCA and BOS. My BWI-SFO just had a pop-up on the app that we're diverting to LAS. No announcement yet at the gate other than a 30 min delay due to SFO weather.

I'll console myself by enjoying my 18th upgrade of the year.

I flew out of SFO on the same aircraft this morning, with about an hour of solid turbulence after departure, that had the flight attendants in their seats.. Pilot said we would only pass over one state without some turbulence. First time in years I crossed the San Mateo Bridge instead of the Bay Bridge, but it was a mess at 4am with a box truck blocking three lanes of the Bay Bridge. Had wind and sheets of rain on the lower portions of the San Mateo Bridge offering a little driving challenge.

This report on a DL Orange County - Seattle flight being diverted after some pretty violent turbulence is impressive.

The jet bridge was just rolled back to the plane and around a dozen passengers got off the aircraft at BWI. Gate agent never made an announcement about the fuel stop in LAS, so they learned about this after the doors closed. Two passengers have come back on board. Door still open. Maybe we'll see more return.

Enjoy the impromptu vegas vacation! I hear Alaska provides vouchers for the LAS slots machines, if you ask nicely.

Yikes!

I see that the flight was diverted to RNO, which I consider to be an airport that has quite a bit of turbulence while on approach. Seems like it's adding insult to injury.

I'm just glad I'm not traveling through this, so I could be home to find my downstairs flooding. Not the most fun of days. Temporary fix should (hopefully) avoid disaster, but there will be some damage.

Hoping insurance takes care of that. Good luck!

Alaska sent me two e-mails. The first apologized for the delay and promised me they're working on a plan to get me to my final destination. The second, about 45 mins later, said we'd be making a quick fuel stop on the way to LAX. Hopefully that's in error as I'm destined for SFO. Trust we're still heading for LAS.

Are you getting the remnant of that cut-off low that hit Hawaii a couple of days ago? We're still getting the effects of the back end of that.

Yes, this is all tropical moisture coming in from the SSW. And, it's supposed to rain on and off over the next few days. I hope Tom gets into SFO at some point tonight...

Just landed in LAS. Will refuel in the corporate jet area. Expect to be here around an hour.
