Definitely not correct and should be F16. The typo/error will be addressed when Alaska files more 7M9 routes in the future.

Discount F is often excluded from CS cert usage. If they gave a discount F pax a CS cert that won't buy a similar ticket, that's not right.

I agree. In that case they should put the cert value in your account Wallet. That way you can only spend the money on AS, like they want, but you get to use it on a comparable fare.

I read that as "... gave us $75 e-certs because we had to fly in Y", not as if a restriction were made on the compensation.

Agreed. Of course, AS probably relies on the higher breakage of a one time discount code that can't be used for F, combined with other codes such as the Companion Fare, or split over multiple tickets.

If you want the Mods to do something, you need to click the red triangle at the left of a message which brings up "alert a moderator to this post". Mods don't generally read every thread just to look for posts addressed to "mods".

Big thanks all, got myself rebooked to stay on the Max, although the reservation agent thinks I am a bit crazy.

the agent who took my call yesterday was amused at the auto-rebooking ... just for grins, I checked the flights a few minutes ago, and found that the seat maps don't actually show PC (in fact, even if you book Saver, you can select a seat in the first four rows!)

Everyone has their own risk tolerance. But personally, with the loss of ET302 and all souls aboard, I will be booking away from the 7M9 whenever feasible until they figure this out and/or establish a better safety record. With JT610 one could dismiss it as “well, that’s JT,” but ET is a more professional carrier. There have now been two 100% fatal hull losses of the MAX with only ~350 delivered to date. That’s a terrible safety record in modern aviation. In comparison, there have been zero equivalent accidents since 2017 (the MAX entry date) among the 6,000+ 737NGs or 8,000 A320neo/ceos in service. Yes, that difference is statistically significant.

I think I will wait a couple weeks to see what the investigation is finding before I start changing reservations in July.
