5/11 SAN-STS AS3471
W Fare, Gold + companion cleared
Cleared at T-26h, after calling in (see below)

5/12 STS-SAN AS3354
V Fare, Gold + companion cleared
Cleared at the gate, T-30m

My outbound was U3 for several hours (got an EF alert) and yet I wasn't received an upgrade email, so I called in. Seat map showed F wide open, only 3/12 seats occupied. Apparently the flight had been renumbered that same day from 3433 to 3471 while the upgrade was trying to process, so my reservation was "stuck". I could no longer view it online and was told "manual assistance is needed". They got a supervisor who knew what to do but it took about 20 minutes. Then the upgrade cleared.

My return was arguably weirder because it was at F0 U0 Y7 ever since the MVPG upgrade window opened, yet the seat map showed only 2/12 F seats occupied. I was the only elite member on the upgrade waitlist and was called up just before boarding began to be upgraded (though they forgot about my companion until I mentioned her.... which was my mom, on Mother's Day). They then proceeded to clear the 20-person standby list by filling all seats in Y and the remaining 8 seats in F with the standby Y pax. I don't get why they'd stop selling F with only 2 seats filled and then proceed to op-up the entire rest of the cabin. And make me wait for an upgrade!

My guess is that they blocked F to oversell Y.

Yeah no PC at all for me on these legs. At least on the SEA-FLL the FA would charge me for a drink insisting other Golds weren’t taking advantage of their drinks so I should.

Cleared at T-4h, with no upgrade email.

This was a first for me. I was #1 on the upgrade list with F1 open. I was anticipating having to show up at the gate early and check-in with the GA to let them know I was present (in my experience, this is the best way to ensure they don't ignore the waitlist and offer the seat for sale at the gate, or skip over me because I wasn't present).

Instead, when I checked the waitlist at T-4h (to see if anyone 75k had checked in late and jumped ahead of me), I was no longer listed on the waitlist. So, I clicked the change seats option and I was able to choose the last remaining F seat. In all my AS transcon flights, I've never seen them assign the last F seat prior to gate control. Fingers crossed this is a new system that's being rolled out and not just a glitch. If this is SOP going forward, this will make upgrades more reliable and eliminate the chances that GAs sell the seats at the last minute.

Cleared T-36 or so

First time clearing an upgrade on a ex-VX 320, too bad I had to cancel at the last minute.

Not to sound like a jerk but is it possible to add flight times to these reports going forward? I think it helps a lot to see which flights are better to take?
