Here's the official link: https://blog.alaskaair.com/alaska-ai...ckets-on-sale/

Looks like they're making Feb 11 and inaugural/test day, with only one flight out and one flight back. QX E75 to LAS.

They also picked up all of WN's gate space, adding 5 more pairs. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/alask...110000869.html

It'll ramp up until mid-March, but here are the eventual pairs:
LAS x2
LAX x4
PDX x4
PHX
SAN x2
SFO x2
SNA
SJC x2

That first link also includes a link to registration on a double miles promo for flights to/from PAE.

Great news!!! I was hoping AS would use the additional space from Southwest and add additional cities (ORD?). Instead...
This would mean more frequencies to several of the previously announced destinations: Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Orange County, California; Phoenix; Portland, Oregon; San Diego; San Francisco; and San Jose, California.

Flash sale today and tomorrow for PAE and double miles for PAE flights until 3/31.

Skeptical about trying to fly into SEA that morning for the inaugural, pick up a rental, and drive to PAE. Will AS protect on an open jaw, or at least reinstate my return home leg?

What's the big deal about getting on the inaugural? Am I missing something?

Inaugurals often have some celebration attached, the bigger the deal, the bigger the celebration. For a new line between already-served airports, maybe a fruit spread at the gate and a small swag bag. For serving a new city from a hub, there will often be city representatives or airline management. Sometimes press. For a whole new 18x-per-day focus city popping into existence at once? It’ll likely be a party.

Inaugural and final flights can also sometimes be diluted if multiple happen close to each other, but in this case, they’re only doing one pair for the day, so there’s no doubt where the focus will be.

Once there’s an AvGeek critical mass, then we bring the party, even if the airline doesn’t. Though I’m sure Alaska will. Paine used to be their Seattle-area base, and they seem interested in celebrating that.

When trying to book PAE-SJC the app has a warning that says "This route is subject to approval by foreign civil aviation authorities"

Interesting that Southwest bailed out. Now just Alaska/Horizon and United.
