The incident itself is covered here: Sea-Tac Horizon Air employee steals airplane, does stunts before crashing near Tacoma The errant pilot, Mr. Russell, apparently recognized he was in the midst of a crisis (From Theft of Aircraft in Seattle-Tacoma Raises Serious Security Questions): “I got a lot of people that care about me and it’s going to disappoint them to hear that I did this,” Mr. Russell said to air traffic controllers. “I would like to apologize to each and every one of them. Just a broken guy, got a few screws loose, I guess. Never really knew it until now.”

QX Q400 stolen by employee, crashed near SEA, no passengers onboard

Seeing a bunch of chatter on Twitter that airspace near SEA was cleared and that an AS Q400 was intercepted by two F15s. If reports are correct, I hope it's nothing serious...

This is bonkers. Someone took a plane out for a joyride. Full ground stop at SEA. Listening to the ATC try to convince this guy to bring the plane back.

A friend of mine on Twitter said he was on a full ground stop for an hour, and then heard the plane crashed somewhere?

Just saw reports that it crashed. Not sure if it was shot down or not. Listening to the ATC feed, I heard the guy say "aw man, I think one of my engines is going out!"

N423QX is being reported on A.net as the Tail Number.... (FlightAware says 423 is at MFR)

Sounds like a Horizon Employee took the thing??? Unfortunately appears to have crashed...

Wild video on twitter now of the guy being pursued by fighter jets...

Alaska Airlines on Twitter: We are aware of an incident involving an unauthorized take-off of a Horizon Air Q400. We believe there are no passengers on board. More information as we learn more.

Per King5 TV in Seattle AS has released a statement saying they don't believe there were any passengers on board.

MileageAddict gave the source.

The story is developing, but I hope the plane crashed and was not shut down.

well, although there's no N number in the press release itself (as of this time), i guess we can reasonably deduce from that URL that it was N449QX.
