75K Companion Upgrade on 3 person booking

Hi. I need to book 3 seats PDX - SNA in economy. I am 75K. Can someone tell me what would be the best tactic to get my two other companions upgraded. I know if there is space available, myself and my companion could be upgraded but what about the third person.

Should I make two separate bookings (Myself and Partner and hope for clearance) and then another booking (and redeem upgrade cert) ??? or ????

3 people on a reservation = no one gets comp upgrade.

If split third person would need to use upgrade coupon. It's short flight just book 3 on reservation and take premium seat

Thanks - that is what I thought. I have many many upgrade coupons.

If there were 3 U space and on upgrade coupon eligible fare all 3 could be upgraded on same reservation, just cant combine with comp upgrade. Remember no G/T/R fares to use the coupon
