Icelandair (FI) Award Availability

I can't find any award availability in business class on Icelandair. Not a single seat. Any suggestions (specific routes/seasons)? I have been looking for BOS/JFK/SEA in August/September.

Yes, still high season, try October.

Not seeing anything in October, or November either. Seems like AS is blocking Icelandair business class availability altogether.

Not how this usually works. Either Icelandair hasn't opened up any saver availability, or it's all been snatched up.

Booked my September flights a long time ago when it was still widely available. Might just be late to the party.

Booked SEA-CDG for Sept but was obsessive about checking 2X day last Oct thru Dec. Also ExpertFlyer alerts. Good luck.

Unlike other carriers, nothing seems to open up at the last minute. If you find it, jump on it. If you don't, pack a lunch and a drink.

I've just started looking this past week for May 2019, and I also can't find anything from both PDX and SEA. I'm a bit miffed. 11 months out on a shoulder season month should produce something.

What service

When one books a coach award ticket on FI, do you get economy light, flex or comfort?

This is besides the point, but I'd have a hard time using miles for Icelandair business class. Their product is certainly fine, but it's more of a premium economy than business product.

Your AS award choices for business/first for Europe are:

- Outdated product on an LCC (Condor)
- Product similar to domestic F and carrier surcharge (Icelandair)
- Wow, lots of carrier surcharges (British Airways)
- Good luck finding this (American)
- Wow, that’s a lot of miles and quite a detour to Dubai (Emirates)

Europe is probably Alaska’s weakest redemption market. It’s also the #1 market for Americans flying overseas. None of your choices are as good as JL or CX are for Asia redemptions.

IDK, I'd say South America is even worse redemption market.. Choice of AA (little to no availability, particularly in premium cabins) or LATAM (haven't seen availability and even worse "premium cabins"). At least for Europe, there's a number of options to explore with no availability or high surcharges.

How exactly is LA availability anyway? I've never actually seen what it looks like since it's not bookable online.
