Wonder if they reshuffled the VX ones into less desirable times.

3 flights from SEA to JFK does not appear to be year round. The red eye departure from SEA disappears in the fall.

Well, great for connecting on AS metal to AA flights, not great because there are 8 seats on the morning departure. I'll take my chances with buying a AA ticket. My likelihood of clearing into F is greater on the 737 than on the AS flight.

Sigh.

Looks like they reshuffled the VX stuff judging by the metal.

Also I'm quite intrigued by the 'barista' for the Alaska lounge.

Answers the question many asked about SFO cutbacks, redeployment of LVX A320's.

No feel for the SEA shift, expect there are lots of Silicon Valley folks who will appreciate not having to travel to SFO for JFK nonstop. Should also improve schedule performance (SJC vs SFO), lower costs.

I'd expect these are just "placeholder" aircraft, at least long term. They can always upgauge without displacing pax. As far as VX metal redeployment, it looks all SFO/PVR and SJD are switching to the 320s.

Glad to see more lift on SEA-JFK. I like this timing the best out of the three options as I don’t like arriving at nearly 11p and refuse to take a domestic redeye.

SJC is a much lower yielding base than SFO. EWR-SJC is the worst performing AS transcon out of EWR. B6 had really low yield on JFK-SJC when they had monopoly of this route. Now there are 3 carriers. Not sure how this will turn out well for anyone.

So they're running a 738 out of SEA and a 739 back to SEA? Aren't they going to run out of planes that way? Or do they have ways to turn 738s into 739s at JFK?

I guess they could pair it with a 738/739 uneven distribution on PDX/SJC-JFK-PDX/SJC, and have planes go SEA-JFK-SJC/PDX... but that is really weird to have less seats one way in a market than the other way.

Also: is SEA going to turn into an Airbus base? Or is there going to be an overnight plane stay at SEA or some early morning/late evening flights to position that A320 in SEA?

not entirely ... LAX/SAN< -->BWI switches between 738 and 739 on a fairly regular basis

That works well for catching BA2 to LCY. I was planning on going via LAX for the lie-flat on the AA 321T, but this saves the hassle of an overnight in LA the night before. I wonder if it'll be bookable as a BA codeshare?

As indicated in the announcement, AS flight allows connection to award and codeshare partners BA, FI, as well as AA and AY, which should help make the route more productive, profitable for AS.
