Presumably they get a refund for PC if they paid for PC in row 10 but lose it on an 800->900 swap?
If you qualify for a refund, you can request one at the gate, on the plane soon after take-off, or by calling our customer care representative after you have completed your entire trip. |

It all has to deal with aircraft swaps, especially when going from an 800 to a 900 and this seated in Premium Class. You see PC on an 800 is rows 6-10 with Main Cabin starting at 11. Prior to the change, PC on 900’s is rows 6-9 with Main Cabin starting at 11; meaning there is no Row 10. When you swap an 800 to a 900 prior to the change, the system can’t move those previously in PC Row 10 to the same seats on the 900 because they don’t exist and thus PC Passengers get randomly reseated in the Main Cabin. With this change implemented, they will now be re-seated in row 10 but it will not be PC but still the seat they selected.
And yes, the new windowless window seat is now 11A. Blue I've ALSO notice that on half of my reservations, they've randomly blocked 11A, the new windowless window seat. But on the other ~50% of my 739 flights, they have not. I'd totally support the blocking of that seat until departure, to prevent the frustration of a passenger finding that they've booked a wall seat in spite of their best efforts. Give it to some poor non-rev! LOL |
it makes sense to have similar seat numbers in the event of ac swaps. i know UA does this as well.

It's weird that they would do this. Previously, the row numbers would allow one to quickly identify anything special about a row regardless of (737) aircraft.
Former pattern: 1-4 - First class 6-10 - Premium 11-14 - Regular Y 15 - non-reclining row ahead of exit 16 - non-reclining exit 17 - reclining exit 18-inf - Regular Y The former pattern of skipping Row 10 on 900/ER aircraft made sense as it kept fleet consistency. |

10A - Ironically, the last row of PC (hardly a premium seat!). I unknowingly ended up here recently. Leaving Hawaii hoping for a nice view on takeoff and all I could see was a piece of plastic.
