Alaska Captain accused of drugging and raping female co-pilot

A Seattle-based Alaska Airlines woman co-pilot filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the airlines, accusing her aircraft’s captain of drugging and raping her.
Betty Pina, who is a former military helicopter pilot and flew combat missions in Afghanistan, claimed her alleged attacker still works for Alaska Airlines and she wants him to be fired immediately.

Reading both articles, I don't see anything mentioned about the police investigation in Minneapolis. These are pretty serious allegations that could result in arrest/imprisonment. Did the reporters just not ask about that? Was there a police investigation?

It is possible that it wasn't reported to Minneapolis PD, or that the physical evidence was insufficient by the time it was reported in order to open a case.

This is some serious allegation, but as we have learned from the past, there's always two sides to the story. I will wait to hear from the captain before I make any conclusions.

Seems she didn't really realize what had occurred until on the way home/it was too late.. More details in the Seattle Times article, in case the others above didn't include: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle...uring-layover/

Suing your employer because they won't fire another employee based just on your word and no other evidence.

Is it possible they were both just drunk and one of them came up with the story to avoid being punished for violating the 10 hour drinking rule?

from what was shared in the Seattle Times article, it sounds like there was video evidence supporting claims that initial advances from the male were not welcomed, and that it took an inordinate amount of time, effort, and coercion for the male to get the woman back to his room where the subsequent assault allegedly took place. sounds like the video evidence, at least as reported there, sits in the woman's favor. if that is true, indeed AS perhaps should have acted more aggressively toward punishing the offender.

Here is a clever idea, don’t touch your coworkers. Most of the time when a allegation is made about a coworker, rest of the staff agrees or vehemently denies. The sleaze balls are very well known.

This is a extremely serious allegation that impacts two people (and families) in a major way. I would expect that any airline or law enforcement agency would need to do a thorough investigation prior to taking action. It is a difficult line to walk. On one hand, if the allegation is true, action needs to be taken. On the other hand, if it is false, then someone's career and life have been shattered.

Time for us to stop second guessing and let the investigation take its course.

Allow the investigation take its course? Alaska's finished, they decided to do nothing, hence the need for the lawsuit.
